Does anyone else actually scream when they sneeze?

I beg to differ on this one...my mom is a screamer-sneezer too. They're quick, but they're incredibly loud. My mother is a very quiet, reserved person who NEVER wants to be the center of attention. If there was someway to control this, I'm positive she would have figured it out by now.

I hate loud sneezing. It's jarring and rude. If it really can't be controlled, okay, but MANY people can control it. My husband's sneezes are very quiet when we're out, but when we're home it would wake the dead. Same with others I know. I can't stand it!!!

What happens when you feel one coming on and you plug your nose? That stifles it for me.

(I am not a loud sneezer though. Sometimes, like on an airplane or elevator or whatever, I don't want to be obvious.)

Hold your breath when you feel the sneeze coming on.

I don't scream, but my sneezes are very loud and come in a row (3-5 one after another). I usually close my office door when I am in sneeze mode. If i am in a meeting and I am not able to repress it, I also get out.

One of my biggest pet peeves. Carry a towel and muffle that crap.

Yep. My SIL used to do the explosive vocal sneeze, and when it was brought to her attention, she started stifling. Now she has these little inverted kitten sneezes. Much better.

Whatever you do, DON'T try to hold in a sneeze! If you don't release the pressure through your nose and/or mouth, you can detach your retina and go blind. I do know a guy who went blind from a big sneeze. Not an urban legend.

Hate the scream sneezers. DH yell/screams when he sneezes.

I am a scream sneezer. If I stifle it is extremely painful and I am apt to end up with a face/hand full of snot and spittle.

Happens to me. Not usually but sometimes during allergy season. My sneeze makes my whole body shake so hard I am scared I am going to be in an accident when they happen while I am driving. I actually just checked this thread to see if my DH started it to complain about me. I'm sure he hates it. I hate it.

My mom does this, and we all make fun of her mercilessly. We always say at least we can find her in a store, but then we also say when she sneezes we back away so no one knows we're with her. Actually, we're kinda mean to my poor Mom, but we're a family who likes to tease.

Lord help me if it's something that develops as you age!

My mother is loud and it annoys the crap out of me. To the point where I'm very conscious of being as quiet as possible when I sneeze. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I am a loud sneezer. If I don't have the BIG sneeze, then be prepared for numerous little sneeze for the next hour or so, maybe more.

Both are annoying, but at least I get mine out of the way in one blast.

My mom screams when she sneezes. It's so strange.
