feedback on boy and girl names, please?

Anonymous
Our baby's gender is a surprise, so we're trying to decide on both a girl and boy and name. Thoughts on the below or other suggestions/middle names? Last name is German.

Boy:
Patrick or Kevin

Girl:
Anna or Mary or Erica

I like them, although Mary is my least favorite. And obviously its a fairly religious name, so if you are not religious, it might not be the best choice.

Patrick, Anna and Mary. Mary is my favorite girl name

Erica great. Don't like Erika.

I prefer Erika.

I would recommend staying away from the "alternate" spellings. Your child is going to have to correct people all their life on the spelling of their name. Erica is more standard and is what many people will just assume. If you pick Erika, you and she will be spelling that name daily for the rest of her life. I've seen a number of people who have been frustrated by alternative spellings of their name bestowed on them by their parents.

Kevin for a boy. Anna or Erica for a girl. I'm not a fan of Mary, but the other's are nice.

Only like Anna

I like Patrick and Anna. I don't like Mary. Kevin and Erica immediately make me think of someone my own age (early 30s).

Kevin and Anna or Erica with your German last name. Patrick the German just doesn't sound right to me.

What about Eric for a boy? Or would you be saving Erica for a possible sister down the road?

I vote Patrick for a boy. Don't like Erica, and Anna is pretty popular but I almost never meet little girls named Mary. I think Mary is a great choice!

--yes, my name is Mary

Yes, but maybe OP didn't think about another spelling. and she did specifically ask for "other suggestions." Given that OP has a German last name, spelling it Erika would work well. Jewish families also often use Erik/Erika. We were planning on Erika until we learned we were having a boy. Really like Patrick, but not the nn Pat. Anna is pretty and Mary is just not my cup of tea. Kinda like Jane. Congrats on your pregnancy!
