Jenn-air or kitchenaid appliances?

Hi! I'm remodeling my kitchen and need to buy fridge, slide I dual range, and dishwasher.
If you have these brand appliances in your kitchen I would love your feedback.

Thank you!

The only thing Jenn-air makes well is cooktops. We've had bad experiences with other Jenn-air products. We currently have a Kitchenaid dishwasher which is pretty good; it replaced our last Kitchenaid dishwasher which lasted 10 years - about the normal life expectancy for a heavily used appliance.

Our kitchen aid dishwasher lasted so much better the far more expensive Meile. I highly recommend it.

We remodeled last year and went with Kitchenaid. In the store, I liked the looks of the Jenn -Air dual fuel range much better, but my husband was obsessed with the reviews (Consumer Reports and some other sites) and the Jenn-Air didn't get very good reviews - ditto with the refrigerator. Anyway, we went with the Kitchenaid appliances and have been very happy to date.

We have a kitchenaid dishwasher and oven and LOVE them. No issues after 3 years (knock on wood). We have a Jennair cooktop and it is good as well. One of the knoba broke after just one year, however. We had to pay for the replacement part.

If you really want to make yourself crazy with research check out gardenweb which has forums on kitchens and on appliances. I'm also redoing a kitchen and will almost surely buy a Kitchenaid fridge. They seem to get good reviews. I read something about a problem with some of their dishwashers catching fire, but it may have been a specific model or vintage - it's worth doing some checking though.

Don't be tied to buying all off the same brand. Some companies make better dishwashers ans some make better fridges.

We remodeled 6 1/2 years ago and got a Kitchenaid range and (low-end) dishwasher, and Frigidaire fridge. I used Consumer Reports to guide me in those selections. The Kitchenaid range and Frigidaire fridge have been fantastic, absolutely no problems at all and we cook a lot, heavily use everything. We replaced the Kitchenaid dishwasher, which started leaking after 5 years and never really cleaned well, with a Bosch this year and are much happier with the Bosch. I did get the very entry level Kitchenaid dishwasher, perhaps a higher end one wouldn't have performed so poorly; still, I felt 5 1/2 years was not a long life for a dishwasher (not to mention it never cleaned partic. well).

I purchased a Kitchenaid French door refrigerator 2 1/2 years ago. I love it! I've had no problems, plenty of room, love the ice maker and scoop. Moving soon and I will buy the same over again for my new house. I also have Kitchenaid double ovens and like them as well. Microwave over cooktop is powerful and dependable. I've had an electric Jenn-Air cooktop for 30 years. The downdraft is great. The solid heating elements have always been very slow and hard to keep clean. However, it has been reliable. Reviews of new Jenn-Aire ovens all sound negative, so I hate to try those in new kitchen for my new ovens.

Kitchenaid dishwasher is good, but if you cook a lot get double wall Wolf ovens, can't beat them

We have a Kitchenaid fridge and dishwasher and are very happy with both. The Jenn-air wall oven and microwave have been the problem. Well, really it's the oven. When we first got it about 3-4 months later it would not shut properly. Had repair person here several times. Then a few years later it stopped holding heat past 350. It's a huge pain. We are replacing in a year or so with remodel of entire kitchen.

For slide-ins I prefer ranges that cover the lip-no crack. Kitchenaid has a trim kit. However we know several households with NEW high end kitchenaid dishwashers and manufacturing has been dangerously imprecise.

Units without the lip need to be pulled out at least annually for cleaning the sides as per appliance experts. Plus the kitchenaid handles do NOT coordinate with any other brands.

By that I mean sharp edges on the door of the units. Sharp enough for deep cuts. Not a good thing. The metal is straight-sticks out-not rounded.

We went all KitchenAid, because seemed the best combination of (1) quality, (2) attractive styling, and (3) price. Very happy after 1 year. Two thoughts -

1. Don't get hung up on styling, because after 6 months, you won't even notice the styling anymore, and you'll be unable to remember what the style of alternative options even looked like. Seems like a big deal when you're shopping side-by-side, but doesn't matter at all in the long run, because most appliances have fairly similar styling anyway.

2. Agree on checking the GardenWeb site for lots of deep info. But beware of falling down the rabbit hole for 3+ hours of reading debates about the perfect range.

This thread goes back to 2012 and the answer was and still is Jenn Air and Kitchen Aid are both owned and made by Whirlpool so the guts are all the same the trim, features and price points are different.

Agree with everyone else that Kitchenaid is generally fantastic. Best bang for your buck in terms of quality and style.
