Will Whittle be around next year?

What is Whittle smoking? China is teetering on the edge of a huge economic slowdown and even without that, the model that WSS espouses was cracked down on by the government last year. If he is still touting China as a growth engine, he is fooling nobody including himself.

And Cyprus?! The weather is great and the people are friendly but with a total population of 1 million, it is not a deep market. But conveniently for Whittle, it is far away and sounds exotic so perhaps that will be sufficient to lure some gullible folks with deep pockets.

What was done during the other days earmarked for X? Regular classes?

Cyprus is the prime banking center for Russian oligarch money laundering offshore. Probably wants to tap into that revenue stream since his Chinese thing kinda went kablooey.

It's all vapor and BS anyway unless he can find one of the Russian to use his school to wash more cash.

Advisory (mostly free time) for the Middle and Upper School students, along with regular classes.
Lower School and ELC could do whatever they wanted. Teachers were allowed, if not encouraged, to give their students an hours of play.

Didn't MR indicate in his email in late March that an announcement on financing was imminent as soon as some bedridden investor was back in action? Whatever happened with that?

Were X-days all-day events?

Bedridden financer was unfortunately abducted by aliens just as he was about to get up and sign the big Whittle deal....

He'll pony up as soon as the aliens bring him home, though. Couple of weeks, tops.

Hello, I'm a reporter with the Washington Business Journal and I've been covering the Whittle School's financial issues since the fall. Working on another story and I'm looking to get in touch with parents and families of students or former students, as well as current or former staff. My name is Hannah Denham - please reach out, you can reach me at hdenham@bizjournals.com, I can provide my signal number there. I'm also interested in seeing any emails to parents, students or staff related to the school's status, delayed paychecks, asks for parents to pay teacher salaries or secure loans, provide school lunches, or any other financial-related issue with resources. I can protect your name and not use it in the story but am looking to get ahold of documents - you can also print them out and mail them to the Washington Business Journal, 1100 Wilson Blvd, Suite 800, Arlington, VA 22209. Thank you for your consideration.

Yes, keep shining alight on this! I hope those with inside information will do the right thing and disclose, even if anonymously.

MS student here. It was an excellent experience academically and friendship wise but let’s just say that I’m glad to go-enough is enough. Most of us are going to near by independent schools that we had to apply to three weeks prior the deadline!! When CW was talking to us, that was my last straw. The constant gorgeous pictures of buildings with a bad foundational plan is crazy. Also, the fact that new families will be recruited through real estate agents(doing the same teacher trick-get people who are coming from afar and have no knowledge about what's going on...) is unsettling. I can't believe that months ago, we couldn’t pay our teachers, and the only main reason our school was able to open after winter break was because of the good parent community. The wifi sucks, and so does the water, we have to bring our own food when we were promised a Michelin chef(which was strange) and don’t have money for essential material resources(art supplies, books, etc.), but it’s AOKAY because we have a new campus in Suzhou and Cyprus!!!! This honesty needs to be a documentary.
