INSANE. Complain, complain, complain. This should have all been done in tandem. |
You're right. We should rezone the Navy families who live of 286 to Western instead. |
You mean the Navy Island? Yes. Along with the rest of Franklin Farm. And, just checked google maps. The closest McNair homes and the closest Crossfield homes are the same distance from Carson. 2 miles. |
I am very familiar with Reston. There are not 900 new units there presently. Where are they? There is new construction, but nothing like you describe. |
You don't know how to read a map. |
Uh You haven't seen the BLVD building and Marriot that just opened in the past 6 months? BLVD had 450 units. Marriot has 94 that's just part of Reston row. Issac Newton square is under construction(32 acres of former office space) now and has 2100 units. Plus there's the EYA and Comstock construction (Reston midline) and Pulte. |
Apparently better than you do. |
No, there are families that go to Navy that are West of Fairfax County Parkway. I'm being facetious here. PP saying the Fairfax County parkway is a natural boundary is just ridiculous. It's one road with a lot of stoplights. How is that different from people crossing Centreville Rd? Or Lees Corner kids crossing 50? Or Crossfield & Navy families getting on 66 to go to high school? It's not. |
None of McNair kids have to cross 286. And a sizable number of Crossfield families live east of Lawyers. None of McNair kids live that far. |
Agree. But, the largest portion of Crossfield students live just as close as McNair students. Both should be at the new high school. Both manage to get to Carson. |
If FCPS had any integrity, Crossfield would be assigned to Western, or Fox Mill assigned to Western with the rest of Crossfield moving to South Lakes. But, sure, let's move other kids around against their will (just wait to see what happens to Centreville families), but defer to Oakton loudmouths. |
|
What's wrong with the Crossfield moms?
The RIO moms claim that Crossfield is not that far from Oakton, and the pro-Western moms claim that Crossfield is closer to Western than to McNair and Coates.
|
I don't think anyone claimed it was closer. I'm the one that pointed out that the closest kids from both schools are about equidistant--which is a fact. One thing for sure, the Crossfield parent who claims she can get to Oakton faster than to Carson is stretching the truth. And, if that is the case, the closest school to her house just might be a different high school. |
dp. And the furthest kids from Crossfield are live further out than kids from any other prospective school. Bussing to Oakton, and the waste of time and tax payer money it entails, is a much better argument for Crossfield. |
They live closer than most Lees Corner kids. |
