APS VPL is a dumpster fire

Man those comments on the Arlnow article, it’s like a best (well worst) of the APE gripes. Fire Durán, recall the board, monumental logistical challenges.

These APEs really need to move on. Schools open! Focus on trying not to get Covid so they can stay open.

I'm still laughing at APE "demands."

Of course you demand APE, that's all you know how to do!

I'm a VLP parent and I do not want APE speaking for me. Sit down, APE. We know you don't support virtual learners.

I'm not APE, but I absolutely don't support the 90%+ of non-medical kids who are in the program. The parents are not following the science and now our medical kids are suffering because of the anti-science views of these parents.

Homeschool works for evangelicals and it should work or these parents of non-med kids with their fervent fire-and-brimstone quasi-religious beliefs on COVID (is delta similar to the second coming?).

Nice try APE! took a break from trolling on Arl now to come back here and impersonate a parent of a kid with a medical condition. We don’t talk like that.

Please stop hiding behind medical children. Very few of the kids enrolled in the virtual program have to be enrolled in it because of medical reasons.

You don’t know that. Did you personally survey every family?

Maybe people are assuming SPED = medically vulnerable? My kids are medically at risk. When we signed up for VLP last Spring I remember a question about why we were choosing VLP. I could only choose one even though more than one reason applied to us. I don't remember which one I chose.

APS doesn't. If you look at Fairfax, they have a virtual enrollment of 0.2% of its student body in its medical-only virtual program. APS has a 2.7% virtual enrollment in its open virtual program.

People on this thread here are quoting Fairfax's enrollment. Assuming it's true, then that's very easy to discern.

Of course APE didn’t do that and doesn’t know who is in the program or why. Medical information is private and believe me no VLP parents trust or woukd share with APE.

This is just APEs latest tactic to try to shrink it close the VLP. Ape doesn’t support these kids at all.

Ape hates virtual families, always has.

Honest question - would those who are supporting APS VPL today also support virtual education instead of building a 4th HS? Because that's the real reason VPL was created.

Why was Barbara Kanninen reTweeting an ad for teachers to apply to Virtual Virginia on Monday or Tuesday, August 30th or 31st? Did she not know there was a staffing shortage in the VLP?

She is a very political. I don't think she would have reTweeted that unless she didn't know then about VLP's staffing problems.

Why on earth would she reTweet that if she knew possibly 100s of APS kids are sitting in virtual waiting rooms for hours because of a lack of teachers?

That woman lives and breathes politics and is rumored to want to be on the County Board.

It’s not a rumor. She ran for County Board.

But how do you tweet out a hiring add the day school starts and not know there are staffing problems?

Not normal to have so many vacancies when school is starting. She knew.

Hi everyone- my name is Aimee Cho and I’m a reporter with NBC4. I’m working on a story today (Tuesday 9/8) about the problems families have experienced with virtual learning in Arlington County. I’m looking for families who would be willing to share their experiences with me in a brief Zoom interview today. Please feel free to call or text 202-697-0853 or email Aimee.cho@nbcuni.com. Thanks very much!

Duran needs to pack his house for sale. The board should all be let go.
