It's possibly Trump moving the GOP out of the way for his daughter, DIL, or SIL to run for office. Clearly his DOJ knew about some of this.

It's virtually impossible to blackmail an innocent person. I think a child rapist is worse than a blackmailer. They did not expressly blackmail the father. They were fundraising which should be familiar to Gaetz senior.

She's not going to be a county tax collector or house member. They're not going to push Scott or Rubio aside for Ivanka. She was going to lose if she ran for one of the senate seats.

Seems like Gaetz's case will not be indicted until the Greenberg case is fully resolved. In that case he may be roasting under public scrutiny for over a year.

He has until mid May to plead. If he doesn't his trial is in June. The case can be resolved by June so there's hope for Gaetz to get indicted soon enough.
