No, I quite prefer keeping my money and spending it how I see fit. Sweden's model doesn't work for me at all.

Without government-passed property laws, government run courts, and government employed cops to enforce the laws and court orders, the money isn't "yours." But keep telling everyone how awful government is.

Government is a necessary evil (one that the US Constitution was designed to severely limit), but socialist government is just plain evil. Socialist governments killed more of their own people in the 20th Century than the combined battlefield deaths of every war in that bloody century. Nothing in history has been deadlier than the socialist governments of the 20th Century. It's a truism that anyone who supports socialism is either evil or a useful idiot. The latter vastly outnumber the former. Which one are you?

That's a very simplistic description of socialism and you know it. Unless, of course, you're an idiot and you don't ...

Bernie's views are in the mainstream of the Western world. It's yours that aren't.

Western European-style social democracy is not the end-state of socialism, nor is it typical of socialist rule world-wide and certainly not throughout the horrible, short, and bloody history of socialism. Socialism inevitably leads to economic collapse or worse. When it doesn't lead there it's because it has been rejected in favor of the free market and smaller government. You obviously fall into the useful idiot category. One day you may realize you are mere cannon fodder for the truly evil socialist true believers.

+1

I'm about to uninvite my ILs for the holidays. I don't want my children exposed to that kind of hate and ignorance.

This attitude right here is part of the reason Trump is having success.

As a college professor, I agree 100% with this. PP is one of those "don't expose me to ideas I disagree with" types.... the coddling students I teach on a daily basis who don't want rigorous arguments challenging them to defend their views.

OH, please. Are you for real? You sound like a dumb ass too, Mr./Ms. college prof.

OK great-grandpa. Time to build a Berlin Wall around yourself.

Not true. No credible politician in Western Europe talks about a "political revolution" and makes grandiose promises that ignore basic economics. That's what the extreme left and the extreme right do.

Signed,

An European who always voted socialdemocrat over there, who agrees with principles such as universal healthcare, super-cheap tuition, getting rid of superPAC money...but has also seen the risks of voting for demagogues such as Syriza in Greece or Podemos in Spain

Our choice of property laws and the emphasis we've put on privileging those choices about property rights over other sorts of rights isn't us "limiting government." Property laws are government. They are a *lot* of government -- consider how much goes into the police, the surveyor's office, the recorder's office, the courts, without which property rights are either nonexistent or ineffective. So, we didn't "limit" government so much as we have been choosing different government priorities.
