Considered by whom? The median household income in Montgomery County is about $100,000. In case you're uncertain -- "median" means that half of households have an income of less than $100,000 and half of households have an income of more than $100,000. If you don't think that twice the median income for the county counts as affluent, then I wonder how you define affluent.

Also, household income is only one aspect of SES. SES stands for socio-economic status.

At least 300k and up. MoCo's 100k is due to a lot of low income families.

Montgomery County's median household income is the 11th highest for a county in the US. A household income of $300,000 puts you in the top 1.5% in the US. $200,000 puts you in the top 4.5%.

In your own mind, you drew this arbitratry line based on absolutely nothing. Okay. Well, socio-economic status also includes level of educational attainment and income. A household of 2 college (or more) educated parents with a HHI of 100k plus but not 300k is going to have totally different expectations for their children's education than a household with a total HHI of 25k and parents with barely a HS education.
