We'll just have to disagree on this point, PP. When I look at Hardy, I see a school building that is at about 50% capacity. I believe that DCPS wants to pack as many OOB kids into Hardy as possible rather than address the failure of its middle schools of than Deal. However, DCPS is aware of the research showing that a FARMs rate much higher than 50% will have disastrous consequences for the school. If the IB numbers at Hardy increase, there is a good chance DCPS will increase enrollment to provide additional OOB spots. In that case, scores will stay flat. |
I think you're grasping at straws to support your pessimism, or desire to defend your castle from the evil Ward 3 hordes, whatever the case may be. Enrollment at Hardy has been pretty consistent for a while; and Fillmore isn't going anywhere, so I don't understand where you're coming from regarding the alleged "underenrollment." |
Without the school having to make any changes at all -- neat! |
DCPS tried to close Fillmore two years ago. It got a temporary reprieve, only because DCPS hadn't made a plan. |
| Where is Fillmore? |
| Where is Fillmore? |
It's co-located in the third floor of the Hardy building. The speculation above is that if Hardy ever started to experience crowding Fillmore would be moved elsewhere and Hardy would take over the space. |
Alice Deal for some. Rose L. Hardy for the rest! |
Thanks! |
| Sorry, what does SES mean? |
Socioeconomic status (SES) is an economic and sociological combined total measure of a person's work experience and of an individual's or family's economic and social position in relation to others, based on income, education, and occupation. --Wikipedia |
Thanks |
In Upper NW, it's called "Deal" for some; "raw deal" for others. |

Come on folks! This thread is only 16 pages long?!? Surely you can come close to the 100+ page of the other Hardy bashing thread. It's a snow day, so you have some time. Don't go out to shovel. Make some hot chocolate and sit by your iPad so you keep rehashing the same tired topics over and over again.
You can do it! We current Hardy parents know you have it in you! Bash away!!!!! |
| I have 2 kids at Stoddert and they are both afraid to go to Hardy bc of what they see when they are in the building to attend Fillmore. Kids are aggressive in the hallways and my kids have witnessed fights. The teachers don't seem in control of the students at all. |
