Ah, you don't know grammar either. Adjectives vs. verbs? There is a difference. Come on.

Different poster. No, crazy as a noun, not a verb. You obviously don't get out much.

Also nitpicking grammar is the classic sign on DCUM that you are not able to make a valid point.

No, I can make a point. Take your school with no proximity preference and move it somewhere else so we can use the space for a neighborhood school. Thank you very much.

why move? you'll just turn you nose up at this magical new neighborhood school the same way you do your current neighborhood school.

Are you nuts? What makes you think the neighborhood needs yet another school? Sounds like someone's got a case of the sour grapes.

^^ Not really. Just think the school needs to have a proximity preference. That's all.

Ah, okay. Sorry, I really think that idea is a non-starter.
Anonymous
OK, then leave. No big deal.

Where would you have the school go in DC that it won't have the same issue? Are you personally interested in the program?
Anonymous
Yes, I'm interested and live close by. But I cannot get in through the impossible lottery - hardly anyone can.
Anonymous
Why do you think there hasn't been as much rabble-rousing over preference for charters, or even Logan, but SWS is the one school that this appears to be so much more of an issue over? If its functioning like a charter... And there aren't a lack of seats locally...

That must be frustrating. Do you think if there's a principal in place at LT that makes an overt effort to woo the local population, would you be more comfortable with SWS remaining city-wide?

Because there is a lawyer who lives nearby who saw an opportunity to get his kids into SWS and started the petition.

Yeah... But isn't there a lawyer nearby every charter in the District? There's a real sense of entitlement over this program that I haven't seen elsewhere. You'd think neighbors of Latin and Mundo Verde would be just as adamant about their unique rights?

I'm IB to Watkins. That's a non-starter. LT is probably better.

? If you're IB for Watkins, would you receive preference for proximity? Wouldn't that just make it go from nearly impossible to not-a-chance-in-hell for you?
Anonymous
I'm a heck of a lot closer to LT or SWS than to Watkins.

That may be the case, but the way the proximity piece works, I doubt the preference would extend to you. So.... You should probably be arguing AGAINST it if you really want in. Right? You're the person to argue you deserves just as much of a shot as the guys that live across the street. Or, do you think they deserve it more than you?
