This entire conversation is so, so sad. Did you all not see the principal's email regarding how divisive this has been on our community essentially begging us to advocate kindly? Stop the madness and wait for the vote.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing kind about this situation. The cluster 2 kids have been cast aside by the school community and their very own principal.

It is the Fairfax County School Board. The population in general in the county has skyrocketed and this will continue. The AAP program has increased 300% in the last 10 years. The school board has performed the "shuffle" for many years instead of coming up with a concrete plan on how to deal with overcrowding and tight budgets. The school board now believes that they should create at least 1 AAP center in every pyramid so that students will be more aligned with their peers that they will go to middle and high school with. Thank goodness they slowed down the process and put a halt to ALL of the changes they wanted to make starting with the 2013-14 school year(the plan is just not that well thought out to make one big leap). Unfortunately Louise Archer, Hunter woods and Haycock get to be the guinea pigs for this new plan. Parents, of course, need to advocate to the SCHOOL BOARD. Attacking each other will do nothing but cause stress in the communities and that will trickle down to the children which is just plain awful! What ever decision will be made, it will became clear in the near future and like it or not it will be implemented next September. Shortly it will be time to come together and support each other so that our kids and teachers can make this transition(whether it be a move or more years of greater overcrowding) with confidence that everything is going to work out for the better.

This! Stop the back and forth crap! Start focusing on facts and future!

Why are Haycock parents the only ones crazed about this? You don't hear a peep from HW or LA parents? Is there something in the Haycock Kool Aid? You'd think they were sending your kids to a school in a third world country!! Get a grip.

Stop with this "cast aside" nonsense. The correct term is always "thrown under the bus." You need that to assure the proper level of bathos. Right now you're falling a bit short.

It's because LA and HW are grandfathering all of the kids. Haycock will be the only school in which all of the children are not grandfathered.

Talk to me when your principal escorts school board members around your school to explain why there is no room for your kid and they need to leave.

School Board hires the principls, they are her boss essentially so if they want to visit, so be it. If you listen to her remarks at no point does she say she supports Janey's amendments. She says our school need relief in overcrowding immediately. Don't throw a our principal who is working tirelessly under the bus. She is in a horrible position and in my opinion doing an amazing job. She is dealing with all of us!

It wasn't the school board members idea, it was the parents.
She told me that she would fight to have our kids stay at Haycock, and then turned her back on us. Why should I defend her?

Why one earth would anyone object to the School Board seeing the current conditions at Haycock first hand? It's the type of thing they should do more often.

The Community at Haycocky does not want "outsiders" at their school. They have shown their true colors during the last few months. Including the Principal, she could have like LA's principal did and grandfathered all the children but she threw the "outsiders" under the bus! It's in embarrassing situation, my heart aches for the children that have to leave. They have their friends there as well as teacher they have built relationships with.

Thanks for using the correct under the bus terminology.

Louise Archer's principal sent out a heartfelt email reassuring the parents that she will ensure all children are grandfathered. Haycock's principal sent out an email stating that she hopes the school can re-unite after the decisions have been made.

That says it all.

The "Community at Haycocky"? Does it at least have a good golf course?

And wasn't "The Outsiders" an S.E. Hinton book that got turned into a movie? Does that mean Ponyboy Curtis has to go to Lemon Road now?

I'll pass on the "true colors" and heartache. So many cliches, so little time.
