Did anyone notice the attachment created by Janie Strauss, which notes the difficulties the school has suffered due to the overcrowding? I was surprised she wasn't supporting grandfathering all the AAP, but after reading the attachment I can see why. The difference is around 120 children.

Time for the Board to reach a final call. People need to plan for next year |
It's not 120 children. That's rising 4, 5, 6 and she is supporting grandfathering rising 6th. The number is really about 90. Also, some of that stuff is exaggerated to make her point, FWIW. |
Pretty strong outline and overall reasoning by Strauss-- I would see the Board approving her amendment. |
I am not so sure. Several School Board members seemed to be hinting at yesterday's School Board meeting that they wanted to "first, do no harm" and seemed to be supporting Patty Reed's amendment. |
We'll have a better idea Monday, so no use debating it here. |
Reed's amendments are all over the lot and it doesn't appear that she's made any effort to show what the impacts would be on the respective enrollments at Haycock and Lemon Road. I guess it's nice that she's trying to do what she thinks some Cluster 2 parents want, after years of being more interested in the Oakton schools in the Providence district than any other schools, but this is just confusing. |
Perhaps she plans to address that in her comments. |
Actually on Janusry 24 |
The vote is the 24th but there will be extensive discussion Monday and they may get a "sense of the board" on Monday. |
School Board members are having/attending meetings specifically re: AAP after the work session on Monday. I would not be surprised that additional amendments will be offered after Monday's work session. |
Which members? |
