For the Blair poster who can’t google:
https://mbhs.edu/schedule |
How do you know? |
They get out at 12:50, but this isn’t a standard early dismissal day. The message from MCPS seemed to definitively say that high school will dismiss at 12 noon, not that they will follow early dismissal processes. |
|
I’m the Blair poster and I am fully aware of the typical early dismissal schedule. However the message MCPS sent did not say schools would follow their regular early dismissal schedule - it said that high school would finish at 12 noon. |
So funny |
| I just saw big storms predicted at 11 and 1. I know they don’t want to cancel but I think they should if the forecast hasn’t changed for the better by 5 am. |
I agree. There is no safe window tomorrow to be doing dismissal. Sucks, but it is an unusual forecast due to the severity and the multiple waves covering the whole day. I will be wfh with two kids …. AGAIN |
It's a 10-15% chance of tornadoes. That's certainty not "most likely." Yes, we'll be under a tornado watch, but that doesn't mean much. They don't call a warning until they see one visually or on radar. |
Because she doesn't have a clue about what she's talking about. |
We're not even under a tornado watch yet which at this point I find a bit strange- there are a lot of "warnings" about the weather but we are under no actual weather advisory from NWS. Not even a wind advsiory which is in effect in other parts of MD. |
I'm seeing showers forecast at that time and strong storms later in the afternoon. Where are you guys seeing "big storms" predicted for 11am-1pm? |
Magnet buses can’t start their runs until middle school dismissal time. Middle schools always dismiss 30 minutes after the high schools. 9th period at Blair is designed to fill the time after regular high school dismissal until the magnet buses arrive from the middle schools. Thus, as a previous poster said, the only sure things are death, taxes, and 9th period. |
Tornado WATCH, not warning. I got one word wrong. I literally copied and pasted the rest from what Doug Kammerer said on his FB post yesterday. |
| Side note but today is a reminder of how trash these weather apps are. iPhone weather app showing 1.25” rain today but no chance of storms, just says wind gusts up to 39 mph lol. |
The Central Maryland Weather Authority Facebook page responded to someone yesterday that made this very same comment. This was their reply. “Please do not downplay this risk. 15% is exponentially higher than our average risk. About 6x higher. It is reserved for tornado outbreaks that post a threat to life and property. No, the sky isn’t falling, but this is an exceptionally rare and high end threat. We haven’t had a risk this high in over a decade.” Sounds to me like this could be a little more severe than you are making it out to be. |
