Teacher still hasn’t submitted letter of recommendation

That makes no sense. Many schools require recommendations. if you submit without them the application is incomplete and wouldn’t be considered.

As he should have.

I’m a teacher and a parent. Of course my child submitted without her recommendations. She did that back in September. Her teachers will get the recommendations in when they write them.

Why would your son wait?

And they aren’t late. This thread has been going on for a week. Applications aren’t even due until tomorrow.

And, as it has been pointed out many times, schools actually have a grace period and can submit after the deadline. The deadline is for the student.

There’s been a whole lot of angst over nothing.

our high school just sent out a note,

every letter of recommendation and every transcript has gone out for every student. every one. if you asked for it, you got it. it's there.

thank you!

but that's how much kids do it. I think you have a basic failure to understand the whole situation

For parents and kids who are still waiting for teachers to submit, don’t stress. Schools give a grace period of a few days to schools and teachers. As long as the recs are in by Nov 4th, it’s all good.

My kid has a teacher who still has not submitted and the deadline is today. What can we do?

It’s all of this thread. They still have today to submit AND they have a grace no period the student does not.

You can send an email, but trust me: they know. The college counselors are also sending emails and staying on top of outstanding letters (which, I need to point out, are still not late).

Teachers don’t get any extra time to write these. We still have to teach, grade papers, answer emails, take care of our own children, etc.

DP. Either on this forum or another posters said schools won't take test results sent from College board after EA deadline if applying EA. Are they confusing test scores and rec letters?

Michigan is the most stringent. So that's one.

Why aren’t teachers using ChatGPT for recommendations. Write your main points. Throw it into ChatGPT. Edit what comes out. Done. Still takes time but more efficient.

Because I’m a better writer than ChatGPT and it would take too much of my precious time to train ChatGPT to sound authentic. I’ve tried and I’m not impressed.

I’d rather give these letters the respect they deserve.
