It's a world unesco site. And Poe's room is on display. And Montecello. And the vineyards around C'vile. And the beauty of the countryside. If you can't appreciate any of that then the problem is you so I can tell your kid didn't get in. Take your sour grapes elseshere.
World unesco site doesn’t make something pretty. Why you’re the only one defensive on this thread should really be called to question.

UVA boosters are always so aggressive
We found much of UVA to have an odd aroma. Like something between moldy and an old shoe. So off putting. The tour guide said it’s petty regular.
Odd aroma? Our family has spent considerable time on grounds in various buildings (including dorm buildings). Not our experience at all.
DP. I’m sorry, but “on grounds” is utterly pretentious. It’s a campus, like every other school.
Why not look up why it’s grounds and not campus…I’ll give you a hint. Thomas Jefferson. He’s also the reason the students are not referred to as freshman, sophomore, etc, but rather first/second years etc. nothing pretentious about this. Simply UVA tradition.
