Democrats weren't given a choice. And there was no viable third party candidate. The moment unpopular, geriatric, dementia-ridden, 82 year old Joe Biden decided to run for reelection was the moment Trump's victory was assured. And no last minute coronation of equally unpopular Kamala Harris was going to save it. Joe Biden and his enablers were a disaster for America. And Trump is the consequence of the profound stupidity and arrogance of the Democratic establishment.

Agree 150%. The 80 million people that thought it was wise to vote for Biden in 2020 are just as much on the hook for this Trump second term debacle as the idiot Trump voters are.

Nobody thought it was wise. We were desperate to get Trump out. But in retrospect, that obviously backfired.

Speak for yourself. In 2019, he was literally running on the tarmac and the stage. He was a much healthier man. He didn’t even want to run but he was begged to save us. And he did. And for that, so many of you speak nasty about him now. Pathetic. I am proud of and grateful for his service. And I’m ashamed by how he’s been treated.

Be ashamed of yourself. You, by voting for Biden in 2020, created a pathway for Donald fricking Trump to be POTUS through 2029.

You guys should have just let Trump win 2020. He could have been wrapping up a fairly restrained second term right about now but instead, he will be around until 2029, with much more power and vengence than he would have ever had in 2021-2025.

We tried desperately to lose in 2020 by running a half senile old man that wasn't popular even when he had his wits but Trump was so weak of a candidate in 2020, the half senile old man beat him.

I can’t find someone to do easy labor for $30 and hour, but you think a bunch of Americans are going to take jobs at meat plants and farms? Fantasy.

And on a pragmatic consideration

Democrats lost because of mass immigration.

Maybe US citizens dont want mass immigration lowering their wages?

The immigration lies and propaganda got them.

So the people coming across our southern borders are doctors? You learn something new every day.

Go read some history! Did you forget the '20 primaries? That's why..duh.

Trolls don’t read. This thread is full of them.

Anyone who can illegally cross the southern border gets citizenship? Apparently that is the official Democratic party immigration policy right now.

Not true. Dems and Republicans came up with a bipartisan bill to control the border. Trump got the Republicans to turn it down. I’m sure he’ll now try to get the same bill passed and take credit for it.

The bill proposed last year was not an immigration/asylum reform bill. It was a band-aid bill meant to throw money at a problem without addressing the root of the problem. We've needed immigration reform for decades and no presidential administration has made a concerted effort to get it done. But hey, let's all just keep voting for Rs and Ds because they are cool.

Totally false. It did in fact have reforms to the asylum process, it would speed up adjudications to let us kick people out faster and so on. That bill was authored by one of the most conservative members of the Senate and most Republicans were on board with it until Trump decided to blow it up, at which they started lying and maligning their own bill. Completely pathetic and spineless display by Republicans.

Why do smart people repeat republican propaganda?

There's not a labor shortage, there's a livable wage shortage.

If your business can't pay a livable wage, then your business is a failure. That's how capitalism works.

If you base your business on workers who aren't making a living wage because as illegal immigrants, they have no rights or are afraid to assert them, that's a bad business plan.

The government can’t pay a living wage

That’s why it’s 36 trillion in exponential debt.

Nobody except immigrants are producing what they consume. If Americans were forced to produce what they consume (i.e. lose the reserve dollar printing capacity) at least half would commit suicide.

Nice fan fiction. As if anyone could predict that Trump would still be around in 2024 and Americans still falling for his lies.

You clearly miscalculated that he would just... go away. And boy, what a grave miscalculation.

99% of asylum seekers would be released into the country while waiting for their interviews. History tells us that many don't show up for those interviews. If passed, that bill would have been more helpful than hurtful but for the most part it just added language to existing laws. We need much, much more to properly reform immigration.

That’s why the swamp and deep state hate him. They all think they are winners then Trumps wife stands next to their wives and they all feel like losers which makes them wild eyed furious. Then God protects him from their bullet… now they’re scared

I thought that another Republican could win, but I did not predict Trump due to his general physical and mental health even in 2020.

I strongly suspect we just made the same choice with Trump's second term.

This has been previously seen in recent history, namely a string of older and nearly senile Secretary Generals in Soviet Union before the collapse of the empire and the remaking of the entire country in a new image.

When the time comes for American Gorbachev to take the wheel, I am hoping it will be Speaker Johnson and not Elon Musk. But time will tell.
