Any concerns regarding the cost of the meds? Why does everyone seem to think insurance should just pay what the pharma companies charge? Is the problème the insurance or the price? If insurance pays for everyone to be on Ozempic, they won’t be able to pay for anything else. |

What? I am serious. What are you talking about? Therapy is extremely important. My friends are smart and realize this, but there is very little mental health support (especially for children) that is covered by insurance. |

I am a psychiatrist. UHC is by far the worst insurance for covering mental health. In fact, there were multiple UHC plans that *did not cover mental health at all* even after the parity laws were passed. I haven't seen that in a while, but the coverage is still markedly worse. I just spent a frustrating hour on the phone today trying to get something approved (and still not resolved) that I could have done electronically in 3 minutes with any other insurance. |

The thing that upsets a lot of people typically find out after they need insurance to kick in and when they are already sick - you pay A LOT monthly for that "good" insurance only to discover when it should be kicking in and making life easier for you to afford meds/help, you've pretty much wasted all that cash because ultimately, you're on the hook for most of what you never imagined you would have to be responsible for. Story after story about people choosing a more "robust" plan only to find out that it really did not matter they chose that plan given the insurance denials and claims paid out. That's what really sucks.
Insurance margins suck so they try to leverage other means to make more profit. That's where the trouble for mere mortals begins. It's about the business itself being really unsustainable. When you consider that nearly everyone goes through some sort of medical setback, issue, disease, etc. that the hospitals and drug companies are charging $$$ for, well of course the insurance companies are gonna find loopholes to get out of paying up. That's just business 101. It's not a matter of greed per se but it is a matter of profitability. I totally agree that they are lower than slugs but the way the system is set up, I mean, how are you gonna get from Point A to B if you always pay every claim in full? I think it would require not just insurance but all the players in the healthcare industry to reconfigure and redo their entire systems so that everyone works together. If it remains for profit, billing modifications have to take effect. Other countries can get away with charging lower or no amounts because it's just not tied to a business model. So if we can change the model, that's great, but having started a the business model, it's impossible to switch it out. We would have to revamp the model to make it some sort of profit generated by other means. Maybe they fall under one umbrella v. Rx, hospital/Specialists and insurance separately. While it's outrageous to condone and celebrate this crime of murder, it's also reasonable to consider the zillions of innocent lives that were taken through cold blooded business decisions as well. |

How does that make everyone shrug off Brian Thompson being gunned down on the street. Vigilante justice is OK when lots of people agree on it, but not OK when public opinion is mostly opposed ... Who gets to decide, under what circumstances. We cannot move forward like this. |
