I have worn a kn95 every time I go inside other than my house since 2020. haven't gotten covid yet and I also haven't gotten sick in any other way

I haven’t gotten sick and I never wore a mask. What’s your point

It’s not still masking for the most part. It’s that there is a surge, it’s cold season, and some either have things going on that can make them more susceptible to covid or someone that is medically fragile in their life.

For younger students/families that were not yet fully in to grade school when the elementary kids were doing virtual it’s probably more startling. Mine was in pre-k early pandemic and now in 4th. Masks do not phase them and they understand nuance and language just fine.

My oldest is also in 4th grade, not sure why you're making assumptions about the age of my kid. Parents in our kids' cohort who were subjected to the idiocy of virtual Kindergarten and masked 1st grade but still gaslight regarding the obvious negative externalities of masked teachers make me sad. You are clearly deeply brainwashed.

Babe, the original post says second grade. Chill on the main character syndrome?

Experts say seeing the mouth form letters and sounds is important. In any event, even though I hated it and it made me angry that she was in my opinion harming a generation of kids there is nothing I could do so I didn't say anything. Basically, this is just one of those things that you can't control unless you are willing to ask for a class change or move to private.

And your private school teachers may be worried about their health, too. Switching to private doesn’t mean you get to bully the teachers more simply because you are paying tuition.

And PP, please pause the hyperbole. Your teacher didn’t harm a generation of kids. That’s ridiculous. Seriously?

You *think* your child’s struggle with reading was related to a mask. Guess what? YOU weren’t wearing a mask. Did YOU read to your child at home?

If you don't have severe immune issues, you are making a big mistake. You will have no immunity to the types of viruses and bugs that you should be exposing yourself to day in and day. Bad idea.

Kind of hilarious how all the absent/deadbeat parents are outing themselves on this thread lol. Clearly, no, they did not.

I am doing the same thing PP does (with an N95) and no—not a shut-in. You sound childish.

As someone who has survived cancer, this isn't a reason to wear a mask. Actively under treatment? Different story.

You know how many people would need to wear masks if this was a widely disseminated recommendation from oncologists? A lot.

Yes, your singular experience with cancer makes you uniquely qualified to answer for everyone else with cancer and how they should be living their lives. I am so grateful for you coming here to explain cancer to us.

It's been a month since school started. I was hoping it was temporary but she's still wearing it. I'm a total jerk if I say something and nothing would change, but I can't be the only one out there who would be bothered by this?

None of your business. What is she is taking immunosuppressive drugs and is trying to avoid getting sick

This

I would hope there is a temporary reason to wear the mask and it will not be every day all school year.

2nd graders need to see the lips and enunciation and pronunciation from their teacher. And facial expressions.

So much learning won’t be happening with this mask thing. Same as what a joke 3 hours of Covid school was once back in person, esp for k-4 students.

I’d switch home rooms. A 5th grader just did in our school this week.

I’d be livid if this was a permanent thing.

I actually think this is a troll post with troll sock puppeting.

Mask lady needs to find a new line of work
