85k no thanks

Not every student pays full fare at Yale, or any Ivy for that matter. In 2021 54% of first-year students received need-based financial aid at Yale. Going to Yale, Harvard, Princeton, etc. can be life changing and would be tough to pass up for anyone.

Rolling the dice that you will get financial aid is tough in my opinion. Looking at paying 340k. Many say you have to pay to enter the Ivy world.

It’s a matter of personal preference. Some families prioritize degrees over tuition as they see as investment with great turn; others may think differently. You are free to decide for your own but do not judge how others prioritize.

That's true. Not judging. Do you but after you bury your kid in loans don't support that their loans be forgiven and handed off to others to pay.

lol I got a full ride to a large state school way back when. I loved it. I am very happy and have had a long happy moderately successful career.

If I could have gotten into Yale or any other ivy and paid full freight I would have gone. Statistically speaking I would more than likely be far more successful than I am now. Very short sighted view to not want to pay tuition at an Ivy

Get the call from your dream school, get the offer and make the choice - wherever that dream school is. Some of you are just miserable. Let's these girls bask in their glory of what is likely the most important decision they'll make this year without an adult who knows nothing about them opining. Congratulations!

100000% can't figure the other poster out..... are they annoyed that they did not get the same option? My daughter is yet to receive an offer but please know that if she had a call from Yale we would not need to see or do anything to say yes.

I think there are a lot of other factors involved. Major for instance. If you want to be an investment banker on Wall Street, then yes, an Ivy degree in business will get you far. If Sociology or History is your thing, I don’t think it matters much.

Recent Ivy grad and Capital player. The degree has paid dividends already. Great experience in first job post graduation and not to mention $150K starting salary. Good investment.

I can almost guarantee you these kids will not be buried in loans. Their parents have been playing for private schools and will probably cover 4 more years. Some of the hs tuitions are just as much as Ivy.

The biggest factor in where you go to college is the likelihood of you marrying someone from your college or a similar school. Who you marry effects your income a lot more than your major.

Yeah I don't think the young women we are talking about are putting an insurmountable burden on their families.

Meant to say the girls were talking about aren't exactly burdening their families with insurmountable debt
