If we reduced the amount of ecnl teams down to two instead of four, we would be competitive. It's just a talent pool issue vs number of players in the area.
There's nothing more we could do about it, a team from Idaho isn't going to compete with a team from Northern virginia, and a team from Northern Virginia isn't going to compete with a team from Southern California or Dallas who makes it to Nationals |
Just stop, Surf wins all the time because they're viewed as the best club in San Diego for 20+ years and pull players from smaller clubs. Yes they develop a handful of their own, but most players start/develop at uLittles in a smaller club and then go to Surf as they get older. |
It's much more than that but believe what you want. |
Not sure that adds up. Dallas has 5 ecnl teams. The population isn't that different than DMV. How do you explain how they have so many more top teams? |
okay champ, you know all |

Geez, I disappear for a few days and SD Surf Dad comes in calling people what he really is (a know it all).
FYI Surf dad, you should know that Bethesda from DMV made it all the way to Semi-finals last year and we’re eliminated in OT against the would be Nat’l Champions. Now, 2 of 3 North Atlantic teams just made through to Quarterfinals. Same goes for 09s. So much for what you know acting like the East Coast is crap. Three letters for ya, PDA. Now, your other stupid comment about direct vs. possession. There is nothing wrong with either and direct is too often confused with “kickball”. Feel free to watch Spain play if you don’t understand. That is what is considered direct. Kickball is when your defense just kicks it over midfield and hopes the fast athletic player can run on top of it (NVA). Lastly, I don’t think to my knowledge that SoCal experiences the extreme weather like we do. Go North and you can find large field houses. Go south and the weather is much more favorable for more months of outdoor training. Lastly, for all the talk about “money”. It’s not just ECNL, it’s families that can afford non-stop training and home schooling who are truly successful. Not the league. Olivia Moultrie, Lily Yohannes, Alyssa and Gisele Thompson, and Mak Whitham. All $$$. Club soccer is a rich family sport, like it or not. ECNL vs. GA isn’t even a worthy argument. You either get it or you don’t. It doesn’t take much research. |

Oh one more thing to the SD Surf dad, how about ECNL switched it up and puts Playoffs in Richmond and Finals out west. We then can see how well the 13, 14, 15, and 16 year olds from the West Coast do when they are heavily Jet-lagged. Our girls out playing games at 5am our time or even 9pm or 10pm our time.
Ladies and Gentlemen, FYI, SD Surf dad is what the majority of folks out there think of everyone else. They are the best, no questions. I personally believe we are all on equal playing ground except for families that have the money to pay for private training and home schooling no matter where you live. |
Have you checked the scoreboard recently? People that are successful are trying to provide assistance on how to be more successful yourself. Why be negative? |
| Both ECNL and GA generally switch where playoffs are held east coast or west coast every year. |
BTW not from San Diego Surf but but my kid has been playing against them for several years and am 100% aware of their development style. I just used Surf as an example because it's the West Coast team people outside of California know about. |
You have no idea what the f- you are talking about. Let Cali Dad speak. |
Actually you have no idea. Feel free to educate yourself. https://www.reuters.com/sports/soccer/spains-vertical-football-too-much-ageing-croatia-2024-06-15/ |
Oh, Reuters futbol analysis…lol. You are even more clueless than I imagined. |
These are the types of patents that are holding NVA teams back. They like the status quo and because of it winning on a national level isn't possible. |
6 DC area ecnl clubs plus Baltimore and Richmond. Plus the GA clubs. |
