What are some things that others think are desirable that you actively do not want?

Many anti-snob snobs on here- still important for everyone to differentiate themselves from the strivers. Now we fetishize formerly peasant stuff: salt, bread, cotton sheets, tomatoes, etc. No one here saying they prefer microfiber sheers and banquet frozen dinners.

I think it’s really people with super clean kitchens and clutter-free counters who aren’t great cooks. I don’t care if you have a housekeeper; if you cook a lot, there are telltale signs.

Not if you clean a lot, too. Eew.

I don’t mean an actually “dirty” kitchen, but unless you’re detailing for an hour and a half after dinner, you are going to have some grate/burner pan residue. Some kitchens look like they should just put flower puts on their Miele ranges.

I don't think other people want a home next to the highway or within feet of their next door neighbor. Sometimes it can't be helped with finances or timing not it's not desirable to people

Then why do sooo very many people buy them ? Especially in those "golf neighborhoods" GAG ! I'm sorry but I can literally hear your TV next door.

NP I don’t know what a golf neighborhood is but I live in a small home next to a highway where I can hear my neighbour’s tv. I would LOVE to live on a plot of greater than 1/2 acre far from big roads. Sadly, I haven’t won the lottery yet so I make do with what I can afford. I assume my neighbors are doing the same.

If I ever won the lottery, i would love to have near daily spa visits. Work out, do quick rinse in a eucalyptus scented big shower with expensive products and big fluffy towels, have a deep tissue hot stone massage with extra time on hands and feet, take another hot shower and stroll in my robe to adjoining salon for a wash and blow-out. Lolling about on chaise lounges eating lunch and reading magazines between treatments. Yes, ma’am, that’s my idea of a vapid good time.

Wrong. It’s the best island I’ve been to. Nothing like Miami- it’s French. It’s not cheap but it’s gorgeous and laid back off-season. I’d have no interest in going when it’s packed and expensive in season, but it’s lovely outside of that time. To the extent it’s ruined every other Caribbean island for us, it’s that nice.

Yes! People making a point to say that they specifically eschew “luxury items”…in favor of luxury travel!

Great wealth. I want enough to be financially secure but not wealthy. I don’t like what great wealth does to people. There’s something empty about it.
