20.

Our two private high schools would not allow this many applications. (one has no limit but a strong recommendation against something that high)

this older thread might be helpful for the 3.85 non-DMV private mom looking for data and advice.

yes they can! They can simply answer the question! sure, it can't be extrapolated to every 3.8 kid but that is not what is being asked.

Ours had 3.87 unhooked with 35 ACT super score (34 single score) and highest level of rigor in course load was accepted to one T25.

Zero acceptances at T20 (one WL).
Two WL at other T25s.
Waitlists never moved.

Zero acceptances to T5 SLAC.
One WL around #25 SLAC (this one may have moved but DC didn't reply to inquiry).

Other than the one T25 acceptance, all other acceptances were outside T30 (for both national universities and for SLACS)

Being unhooked makes a big difference - similar story for unhooked classmates. (Didn't want Chicago and didn't apply, but that may have played out based on classmates).

what major?
where are you located?
can you confirm private HS?

How did these private 3.8uw kids do in ED/EA this year?

Any trends to extrapolate?

Grades can be inflated to appease the parents shelling out tuition money, and colleges want kids that aren't privileged in every way. Good luck to your kid, I just find the private school call out annoying.

Tell me you don’t have a kid in private without telling me. Nothing you said is true and you sound jealous.

This thread was helpful as well to me as a private school parent.
Bumping up for those other threads filled with questions

a 3.8uw private/high rigor get into? Humanities major
34 ACT

Curious.

This question is useless. What school? Weighted GPA does matter. Are they hooked?

Most privates don’t weight GPA - moron - read the title.

Any info on how private HS 3.8uw fared during ED/REA this year?

I’m curious how this cohort from privates did in ED2 this cycle?
Anyone have any intel?

No WashU or Vandy ED2 acceptances from our private non-DMV HS. Pretty surprised to be honest.
Anonymous
WashU, Vandy and Rice each only admitted like 200 kids ED2. The pools are really, really small.

Rice is difficult ED, ED2, or RD no matter what.

WashU ED2 is reasonable. Often a student rejected by an ivy in ED would get in WashU in ED2.

Similar with Vandy.

How were results for Emory ED2?
