Do you ever recognize repeat posters?

I like all the +1 posters, and there are a lot of us

I come here specifically to read the erudite posts of the high fiber plant based low animal protein diet lady who has great poops and flatulence.

Honest.

I think this is multiple posters because whenever it gets posted, multiple reply "I could have posted this."

There are a lot of women in their 40s/50s on here and those are the prime "funk" years.

There are even more women in their 60s, 70s, and even 80s on DCUM.

More? Uh…no. It’s a primarily a mommy website, not a granny website.

Well, some of us have been on here for almost 20 years. Why do you think there is a midlife forum?

Those people (myself included) will typically be nearing 60. Not 60-80.

Very few OG DCUMers would actually be grandmothers now.

2) Open Marriage Guy who has found this one weird trick that fixes sexless marriage (unilaterally declaring it open);

3) I dearly hope this is one person - the one who constantly refers to “DCUM harpies”. So creepy and misogynistic.

I think 2) and 3) may be the same person. Incredibly bitter and just can’t get over whatever he’s been through.

I always look forward to the annual posts from the disgruntled lady who calls photo holiday cards “family ads.” She takes holiday cards very seriously and doesn’t want your family vacation photos. She wants a personalized message, dammit.

Some parents make it so obvious that their DC were not admitted to that particular school. I seriously feel bad for their DC, since the parents are so obviously fixated.

There is a school I sometimes rag on in the College forum and it's not because my kid was rejected. It's because I've known/worked with three different alumni from the school who were both generally awful and also suuuuuuper into their alma mater, and therefore I have nothing positive to say about it even though it's probably not a a terrible school and there are probably kids who are very happy there. I don't think my kid will have any interest in it because of it's location and vibe, but if she did apply, I would be privately relieved if she didn't get in because I don't want anything to do with it.

Definitely not one poster. There are lots of discussions between BA fans.

I learned about BA from these forums and really like it, and now I post positive things about it. I wouldn't say I rave about it, but when people post looking for at home math enrichment, I definitely recommend it.

There are a lot of repeat boosters in the College Forum like the Jeff Selingo fan and the Denison parent.

In terms of recognizing repeat posters IRL, there's a woman who has/had one kid at Walls and one at JR whom I swear had a kid on the same sports team as mine. I was very tempted to ask her if she was on DCUM but never did.

+1. I’m one of those, in my 60s now.

Same - 62 and have adult kids. I originally got on when my oldest was in middle school and applying to private HS.

You all need to get a life. Focusing on habits here is not normal

When we were applying to private schools there was a poster with a very distinct writing style who posted so much detail about her daughter that I recognized them on a tour. I knew way too much - her daughter’s preschool, test scores, that she was being redshirted, etc.

One is very helpful and respectful with good insight (the former law partner who retired 8 or so years ago), and another writes in what can only very generously be called garbled English, is from the NY area, professes to have engaged in numerous real estate transactions, claims to have senior positions in a number of companies, and is almost always no value added.

LOL. I am sure it is Richard Montauk! Several years ago, based on DCUM recommendation, I consulted with him for free and found him to be a fear-monger and very pompous. Decided to do without any college counselor and my kid got into T5 college of choice. Yes, yes, Asian-American male from donut hole family, no hook, great stats, in-demand STEM major.

I’ve posted before that my kids won’t consider red states for a variety of reasons, including women’s healthcare. I see others posting about it as well.

OK, psycho.

Seems like you’re triggered by women having health care. Are you also triggered by LGBTQ kids?

Excuse me, but the correct acronym is LGTBQIA+

Please do better.

What does the I stand for? Incels?

Were you trying to make a lame joke? You failed if so. It was not funny. But you did expose your bigotry.

Everyone knows the “I” stands for intersex peoples.

Even people who are 100% in favor of every possible sexual identity have to be amused by each additional letter added to LGBT…. It’s become a Portlandia satire of itself.

It’s like back in the day when McDonald’s had those signs that said like “Over 500,000,000 served” and they kept adding zeros until it just got to be too much & they finally gave up. So why not just say you support people of all types, A-Z, and be done with it?

No, it has not. This part in bold is not at all true.

Everything is based on peer-reviewed research from tool universities. It is serious science!

Excellent satire. Well done.
