This is a GFR thread. But it is amazing that you are complaining about paying for a camp but not complaining about traveling to play a single game in South Carolina. 4 or 5 days of touching the ball vs maybe 5 mins in a game. It sounds like ECNL is your problem and not the camp. |
| I don't think anyone knows the final verdict here. A lot of reshuffling certainly happening behind the scenes especially McLean, which certainly has more to lose than GFR. |
| Does anyone know if Nadir still an ECNL coach at McLean/Union with his new title at GFR? TBD? |
The event planner will continue coaching at Union as well as running things at GFR. |
Good. |
What happened? |
New TD cleaned house. Not sure what will be "exposed"? |
Update? |
Massive incompetence on the part of whoever decided to fire two accomplished, popular coaches with no explanation to their teams. |
This could not be more accurate. |
| If the rumored dominoes start falling like has been speculated here - e.g. SYC leaving Union and GFR stepping in to become McLean’s partner for Union - having NM on board certainly helps that process. It might look like incompetence in the short term, and its unfortunate well-liked coaches got bounced, but those are moves GFR probably had to make for the long term good of the club. |
While I second your question about what RP and KB will be "exposed" for, the new TD was not involved in these decisions. That much I know. It was the XD (backed up by the board). |

RS (+BOD) made these decisions?? Without telling families?! |
Technically, RS made the decisions and the BOD went along with them.
Well, if you mean without telling families beforehand, then yes. Obviously e-mails were sent out to the teams that KB and RP coached after the fact but they offered no real explanation for the decisions, of course. Which is not exactly uncommon. Employers rarely disclose details behind the decision to terminate someone from their job and often cite "privacy" as the reason. But not offering up an explanation can also be a...convenience...for an employer who would prefer that people not know all the details because maybe the "optics" wouldn't look so good... |
