No, I am not the OP. What about my summary was incorrect?

ps are you qualified to proscribe medical treatment? Either way, your use of mental illness as a pejorative is very distasteful, and you should be ashamed of it. Please stop doing that.

Whatever. You’ve invested way too much energy on this issue and that’s not healthy. Your little summary fails to point out that on this thread and on the Real Estate thread, the vast majority of posters have pointed this out (and calling it “pejorative” is laughable) and suggested you either need healthy coping skills or you’re a troll.

You are not a good human being if you make fun of mental illness by using it as a pejorative. That's just how I (and most decent human beings) think. The fact that you double down on it is all the comment necessary and I will just leave it here to speak for itself.

Nobody is “making fun” of mental illness and you’re lying about that.

Lots and lots of people ARE saying your emotional investment in something this trivial (and you claim not to even be OP!) is unhealthy. And that’s something you need to know.

No, I am NOT lying:

either a troll or in need of actual therapy.

putting any more emotional energy into this beyond ignoring/recycling the literature is batsh!t

gets so bent out of shape they complain for four days on DCUM is either (a) in need of a qualified therapist

Really they need therapy.

going into a 3-4-5 day online rant is NOT normal.

Those are just from the last page and a half of this thread. Want me to keep going?

Those aren't all from me. But no, those aren't mocking mental illness, they're just stating facts about your behavior. And yes, you need to hear that your all-out-of-proportion emotional investment is not normal.

Or, you're a troll.

Those posts use mental illness as an insult. That's indisputably the intent. The fact that they are "aren't all from" you just means there is more than one bad human being in this thread.

And amazingly you use another one in this very post!

You are not a good person.

Where are you when Christians get called mentally ill? Kat Von D has been repeatedly called mentally ill in the thread about her baptism and conversion to Christianity. Multiple posters have implied she’s bipolar and “swinging” from one extreme to the other and “collecting” items from first witchcraft and now Christianity as a manifestation of mental illness. You are silent on threads like that. Defend everyone from being attacked/bullied for mental illness or personality disorders, don’t just get outraged and start calling others bad people when they talk about people you agree with.

I even alerted on some of the posts talking about her mental health, and I didn’t see them get deleted. Apparently it’s ok for the non-doctors here to diagnose strangers over the internet.

Let’s not forget the many posts calling people who were written about in the bible as schizophrenic or bipolar.

Or the recent thread asking if posters ever experienced the supernatural- op or several other posters asked point blank if people who answered had really been hallucinating! What the f does that imply, if not people who shared their supernatural experiences were hallucinating because of mental illness or emotional/personality disorders, or were doing drugs.

Yet you were silent on that thread too.

But whoa- now you’re calling out all the jerks who are suggesting op and the posters who have melt downs because someone dare ring their doorbell, because that’s making fun of mental illness!

The people posting on the real estate thread suggesting that were not mean or malicious, it’s just true. Nobody should go off the deep end because of things like this. It’s a big overreaction that points to op and others who react similarly as having unresolved issues in other parts of their lives. And that’s not even calling them mentally ill, either.

PP here. I am against anyone being called mentally ill as a pejorative. I don't care what other characteristics they have.

I can't be more clear than that.

I think anyone who does it is a bad person and should stop. They also should have it pointed out to them. Many in this thread did just that and a small sampling of evidence is posted at 10:59.

I don't post in every thread. Gosh I hope you don't either. If you are referring to the thread about "Kat Von D" mentioned above I have not gone into there as I have no idea who that is, do not care about it. But if someone used mental illness as a pejorative there I am against it, and you are free to copy my posts here and put them there with my blessing.

Mostly correct, except:

There's general agreement here and in Real Estate that anybody who thinks it's "rude as F" and gets so bent out of shape they complain for four days on DCUM is either (a) in need of a qualified therapist, or (b) a troll.

You forgot "someone who simply thinks its rude as F", and there are lots of us.

It’s a constitutionally protected right.

It’s not rude as f. It’s a right that other countries wish they had. It’s a right many many men and women died for, and Militarily personnel to this day sacrifice so we may enjoy exceptional freedom.

Quit making it about you and your beliefs, because it’s not. Your beliefs don’t cancel out constitutionally protected freedoms the entire country benefits from.

People are so entitled and ignorant they can’t look at the entire picture. They just see their petty gripe as the most important thing in the universe.

I recently saw a video from a door bell camera a woman posted online. A man was canvassing for our current president and the woman who owns the home is not a supporter of the current president. The man rang her doorbell and she spoke to him through the doorbell and asked what he was doing. He gave her his memorized speech and put literature on her porch. She said look dude, what political candidate are you talking about? He didn’t say in his speech who he was actually supporting. He hemd and hawd and finally asked point blank and he admitted he was going door to door for the current president.

She said no thanks, and told him to leave. He flipped her off as he left. She laughed.

So did this woman go nuts online because someone she disagreed with dared step foot on her property? No!

Did she say omg ban these people from coming door to door, I don’t agree with them? NO.

You want to take away the right of people you don’t agree with to exercise their constitutionally protected freedoms, you are taking it away from everyone, in reality.

That’s not how we want our country to be. Use your words and say no, leave. Post a no trespassing sign.

But don’t act like people going door to door in support of someone or something they believe in is a negative, because it’s not.

I don’t agree with you, but I want you and everyone else (people I agree with, don’t agree with) to have the freedom to express their opinions and views to their fellow Americans.

I get an uncomfortable feeling that atheists don’t like that. They’d rather cut off their nose to spite their face. That’s probably why atheist politicians are not successful in large numbers, because people know, they hate freedom. If the shoe fits, wear it. I served in the military and my son currently serves and you are gifted with freedom you don’t appreciate. It’s like many people here are unaware or purposely want to take freedom away from our society. It’s really ridiculous.

You are really out there summarizing all atheists (and I think you mean something more by that) as people who hate freedom. you know nothing about other people's religions, other religions, or what freedom even means. and then it's related to military service? Scary person. Freedom but not for people you don't like or look down upon.

I clearly state all people, including people who I don’t agree with, should have the same exact freedoms.

It’s not up to you or I to grant people these freedoms. They are written into our constitution and protected by our laws and courts.

You all want people to stop exercising their constitutionally protected freedoms because you can’t tell people you aren’t interested or won’t post a no trespassing sign on your property.

You are overreacting because you hate religion and religious people and would rather take freedom or speech and religion away from our entire country, while shaming people who exercise their freedoms, than learn to live with people you have differences of opinion with.

You all are the scary ones.

Well stated.

Noting in passing that atheist pp is probably one of the people derailing religion threads with her bile, so she’s enjoying a freedom of speech that she wants to deny or shame others for.

DP. You’ve obviously glommed onto “mental illness“ as a red herring to get away from the fact that you’re trying to deny some people their religious freedoms. We see through this, so give it up.

Let’s get back to the point, which is that you’re over-reacting and becoming emotionally over-invested in something that you could easily solve by ignoring or putting signs up. Call this what you will. It’s clear you just want to stop or shame people from exercising their religious freedoms.

DP. And as you’ve been beating this dead horse for pages, you’ve undoubtedly seen the Real Estate forum thread, linked to here, where everybody after OP basically calls OP crazy. Where are your outraged posts on that thread?

ps are you qualified to proscribe medical treatment?

But in recent threads with a lot of posts about this subject you didn’t post and defend the person or people being called mentally ill. Why is this thread a thread you are actively doing so?

I don't post in every thread. Gosh I hope you don't either. If you are referring to the thread about "Kat Von D" mentioned above I have not gone into there as I have no idea who that is, do not care about it. But if someone used mental illness as a pejorative there I am against it, and you are free to copy my posts here and put them there with my blessing.

No no no no no. I have "glommed onto “mental illness“" because people in this thread were posting things that most adults understand are patently offensive.

Right now I feel you are not an honest interlocutor so I do not wish to engage with you any longer, unless you will apologize for using mental illness as a pejorative.

Will you apologize for using mental illness as a pejorative?

I am not persecuting you. I am trying to get you to understand how incredibly insensitive you are being in the hopes you will learn and stop.

Sure, even if was just pointing out your unhealthy coping patterns, which not a pejorative at all. I still maintain that you're being deeply dishonest about this.

I'll do that right you apologize for being a dishonest troll who's trying to use mental illness as a shield for your bigotry and attempts to undercut religious freedom.

I've posted 3x. Didn't distort facts - same facts. How am I hypocrite? I find it rude for strangers to keep ringing doorbell while knocking at the same time despite me telling them to go away. And then I answered the door in case they didn't understand that I wasn't interested. The woman handed me a pamphlet but I told her that I wasn't interested. Then her and the other woman walked to the end of my driveway meeting up with another woman holding an iPad device and walked to my next-door neighbor's house. The man/woman team was already at my neighbors' door. What is wrong with me saying it was annoying and not wanting this to happen? Get a grip on yourself. I haven't insulted anyone. but I've been insulted. Also, I'm not an atheist so not sure why that has been hurled at me. It is ironic that on the Religion forum people are so mean!

I am always amazed at the situations posted here in the religion forum that people get over the top angry and emotional about, that would receive a meh in another forum here.

Most would fall under ok, it’s the world, ignore it and move on.

Like one person pointed out: are you doing ok if something small like this made you so unreasonably outraged/angry?

Really you can’t be, because this kind of stuff happens constantly (interaction with people who don’t agree with you/have different opinions than you)and going into a 3-4-5 day online rant is NOT normal.

Still trying to understand how this post (not mine btw) is "using mental illness as a pejorative."

Oh right. Atheist pp would rather fabricate lies about other posters than confront her own bigotry.

People would get told to grow up and move on if they posted their threads in other forums.

Nobody has time to listen to another adult whine/cry/ruminate/obsess for days or weeks or years.

Some of the threads here deal with issues people have had for years! They are complaining about their childhood or an incident decades ago, or a friend from middle school!

Really they need therapy. Every time I read a thread about a poster that has lifelong problems because of something to do with religion I can’t believe their solution is to complain about it here.

op should post their issue in real estate and see what response they get.

Or they’re just trolls. It’s hard to believe a well-adjusted adult would post 21:32, 21:43 or 21:46.

Yes, the Real Estate forum thread is pretty hilarious. Nobody has time for an adult tantrummung over such a minor issue as someone leaving them a piece of paper. If there are actual childhood issues, get a therapist instead of complaining about trivia here.

"Using mental illness as a pejorative"? Nope. Using mental illness as a red herring to disguise pp's own bigotry.

Trajectory of a DCUM thread….

Bigot posts disparaging stuff about religious people. Bigot gets called out for overreacting (there are obvious simple solutions like not answering the door or tossing the literature). Bigot tries to push anti-democratic solutions but the Supreme Court disagrees with her. Bigot tries to shame the religious folk but gets laughed at. Bigot posts some manifestly childish ad hominems. Bigot realizes she’s losing so she tries to turn things around by claiming anybody who accused her of overreacting is “using mental illness as a pejorative.”

Bigot, you should be ashamed for trying to weaponize your own immaturity into something like your victimhood. Mental illness is real, and it’s disgraceful that you’re whining about getting called out for what’s basically your own bigotry and immaturity.
