Has Au/tenley town gotten seedier? Lots of homeless and random people

They moved him to Ward 6

Just drove by this. Found myself hoping for Trump to win for the first time so his National Park services appointees clear this out.

The Secretary of Interior is so focused on her performative indigenous posturing that she has lost sight of protecting the national perks, the Nation’s Crown Jewels and her department’s foremost mission.

When did Rock Creek become a National Park?

Where are you getting your numbers from? I'm seeing CHEC and Wilson/JR as the lowest funded high schools:

If you look at elementary, Ward 6 is getting more, with 1/3 of the schools in Ward 6 having higher funding than the highest funded school in Ward 3.

I’m using the updated numbers from the latest fiscal year. You’re on the wrong website.

This 1,754 acre city park was officially authorized in 1890, making it the third national park to be designated by the federal government.

Did you actually look at those numbers? They're even worse for Ward 3.

Ward 6 - Eastern HS: $17.6 million for 865 students = $20,347 per student.

Ward 3 - Jackson-Reed: $28.9 million for 2153 students = $13,423 per student.

Not to mention all the private foundation money that schools in other Wards get. And it’s fascinating to watch the Ward 3 school PTAs getting shaken down to “partner” with other schools.

They should move the homeless from DC parklands to spacious parks out west.

DC should create a fenced shelter and care facility on the unused RFK parking lots with security and a strict no drugs rule, with medical care and vocational training. Parks and streets are no place for vagrants. “campers.”

Cute little coffee shop/bakery in Tenleytown front door smashed in today. Word is someone banged into it with a shopping cart. How might that have happened I wonder.

Wouldn’t one simple way to cut down on vandalism of this type, as well as organized thefts where hoodlums steak carts full of merchandise, be for stores to install post barriers or electronic locking mechanisms to prevent carts from being removed from the store premises? It would also cut down on loss of carts themselves, which one frequently sees all over neighborhoods. All of this costs retailers money, and law abiding consumers foot the bill eventually - through higher prices and fewer retail choices.

If 2D can't keep order in Cathedral Commons, what can they do? I think the flasher should be arrested. Last I checked, that activity was illegal.

^. This. This guy is doing his deeds smack between 2D and Friendship Place. How much more ineffectual could these two organizations show themselves to be?

Ward 3 made clear through the incredible number of BLM lawn signs and BLM flags in our schools that the majority do not want policing services. The DC chapter of BLM, of which you all apparently support, is very clear about its position: “Our fight has always been and will remain a fight against the institution of policing.” Ward 3 doubled down on this with the election of Matt Frumin. So here we are.

Yes--I was once part of a car accident on Rock Creek Parkway, and it was handled by Park police, who shut down the parkway for three hours.
