+1000 coming from an immigrant family this was one of the few top schools I had heard growing up. But I’m so nauseated by their discrimination and wish more Asian families knew this.

And exactly where are you going to apply instead? You think Harvard is somehow unique here? MIT? It’s 34% Asian American versus about 27% for Harvard. If you think that’s some huge difference go ahead and limit yourself to one or two schools in the country.

I would definitely trust private school insta threads over anything else.

You’re an ass. They’re all smarter than you and deserve respect now.

43% of White kids at Harvard is ALDC.
When I see a White kid, there's almost 50% the kid got in backdoor.

Same with Black kids, Majority of them have significantly lower stats, but got in with big bonus points.

I can't respect these.

If you see an Asian kid, he/she got in despite the discrimination.
Huge respect.

My kid is Asian and a legacy. Got you there. You know what ALL the kids who get admitted are super accomplished. They’d all be admitted to whatever state honors program you jerk off to at night.

Of course it's not 100%.
I don't respect your Asian kid.

My child and I are so wounded by your lack of respect.

Yea you sound pretty mad

I’m not the one who’s driven to racist statements by their resentment.

Harvard and the US college admission system are racists.
Justice will be served soon by the Supreme Court.

It’s amazing to me that families that clearly value education don’t do their research on college and go for the same few brand name schools instead of seeing the educational value of so many others. It always feels like prestige chasing but maybe it’s really ignorance.

I think it's mostly ignorance. Most of those who are resentful are in families that recently immigrated (kids are first or second generation) from countries that choose students for their universities based solely on numbers. Some of those countries foolishly give preference when hiring to students from the most difficult universities to gain entry to, not realizing how many of their most capable citizens are either late bloomers or poor test takers or too poor to have the means to prepare or are amazing leaders but a bit less capable intellectually or whatever.

And most of those who come to the US are in the top few percent in intelligence (which makes us very lucky to have them join us) and have expectations that this intellectual ability guarantees them a spot at one of the colleges everyone in their country of origin has heard of. What they don't realize is that the differences between that group of schools and their safeties in terms of quality of education are miniscule (and often actually favor the less selective colleges), so there's no need to fret. But they do, and then some of them try to change the very different American system that they mistakenly believe is biased against them in order to get what they want, not realizing that it will have no impact on their future success.

It would be really interesting to see a Dale and Kruger-like analysis of the outcomes for recent immigrants who are admitted to elite colleges vs. those who were turned down but had the same GPAs/Test scores. I'll bet the results would look very similar to the 30 years of data they've already analyzed.

Seems like you are amazingly stupid.
PP never indicated anything about what you said.
Everyone does research and apply multiple schools - reaches, matches , safeties.
That's how the game works in this country.
White people do the exactly same thing.
They are the ones using the most backdoors (ALDC) and even illegal bribing(i.e. Varsity Blues scandal) for prestige name brand.

Lol you are totally wrong.
Recent immigrants usually go for state schools.
Its the other Asian Americans who have high scores on leadership, EC, interview, etc. who get mad, and racial discrimination is discovered

I almost certainly know more recent immigrants than you do, so I'll stand by my statement. I will concede, though, that your statement is correct about recent immigrants from Latin American countries. But those aren't the immigrants who have the misguided expectations and understanding.

Asian immigrants themselves are diverse and obviously both of us have limited personal experiences,
however I myself was actually an Asian recent immigrant to DMV area, so I'm pretty sure I know better.

First of all, another totally wrong thing is that most of the immigrants from Asian countries are middle to lower class normal people unlike your imagination.
These people usually don't have the luxury to care much about getting into super elite schools. They normally don't get good points on leadership, fancy ECs, etc.
A Good state school would be considered a success.

The Supreme Court case is not about test scores, it's about the bogus personality score because these older generations of Asians have better leadership, ECs, interviews, etc.,
It is clearly racial discrimination, so I think they have the right to get mad.  Seriously wouldn't you get mad if your kid got a super high score on everything including leadership EC interview, etc. but denied because of some bullshit negative courage score? LOL

They go for state schools because state schools are much larger. But the percentage of Asian Americans at UMDCP is substantially lower than at Harvard. So clearly by your deranged logic UMDCP must be discriminating against us. UVA is even lower. Why aren’t you protesting there?

1 We were talking about 'recent' immigrants.

2 I suspect other schools commit similar discrimination.
The good thing is that the Supreme Court rule will apply to every college in the US.
So no worries.

They picked the two worst examples: one from privates = Harvard and one form publics = UNC
