| 14:41 poster, above anecdote is Manhattan |
Immigrants make it work all day long but they live with large numbers in an apartment. They will be owning real estate in 10 - 15 years while others get left behind. |
NYC isn’t “gentrifying” especially in that area. That’s an unfortunate incident but not really sure how it’s related to gentrification. Increase in crime and lawlessness in cities though, sure |
Seriously. Studies have shown that working class women do better if they have their babies earlier because it doesn't impede career progress in the way taking a break for a baby does. |
Sadly, I don't think working class women have the luxury of "taking a break for a baby." |
A lot of working class women SAH. Most people don’t have $20,000+/year to drop on daycare. |
And cops and prosecutors who allow someone who commits violent crimes to be back on the streets 5 hours later should be fired. Someone like that will just continue assaulting and assaulting and assaulting. |
|
This is horrific. Brain injury is a very serious thing to inflict on someone. And yeah, one of the Twitter commenters does explicitly connect this to a reaction against gentrification, though from the responses to this tweet alone I can't tell if maybe it is a parody account. Haven't looked at the guys other tweets. |
Not left behind, choose to be left behind. No one is stopping them from making similar sacrifices. |
Seriously! Frontal lobe excuse? Even a 3 year old knows hurting people is wrong. |
Be careful. I live in Arlington and our neighbor sold her home at a reasonable price to a LatinX family with young kids. Turns out they were a front for a developer. The seller and the neighbors had no idea until the developer tore down the house 3 months after the “young family” closed. |
| I’ve heard gentrifying parents be referred to as “sacrificing their kid” if they send their kid to the local school. |
