Shaming kids on public social media - not a big deal

Wearing a sweatshirt from someone's Bat Mitzvah - travesty and everything wrong with Tilden

This about sums up how a$$ backwards this school is.

Both are confirming poor mentality of community. Root cause is the same. Both are big deal.

Wow, pulling that card to avoid getting called out for exclusionary behaviors just because community is Jewish?

No one bats an eye if some one writes keeping up with Jones.

Some introspection is needed and I am saying that as part of community.

The Joneses haven't been persecuted for 5,000 years. But you do you.

Given history, I would think community should think hard before open advertisement of exclusion. Reverse is happening here.

That's the same sort of pathetic argument as mugging or rape victims "asking for it".

No way did you just try to put an analogy of keeping up with the entitled Bar Mivtzvah crowd to raping

So many teachers are leaving that school this year and finding jobs elsewhere in mcps. I don't know what's up with the new leadership, but the exodus seems excessive.

It’s the kids and the parents, not administration

NP, Tilden parent and agree with this. I’ve observed some seriously ridiculous behavior by parents and kids in the front office and in the drop off line. I don’t think it’s the administration at all.

How do you know this and what do you define as “so many”?
I am a tilden parent and mcps teacher. I saw 5 openings at tilden on the database. That isn’t “so many”.

***And I am in no way condoning any of the actions of some the kids, endorsing the new administration or commenting on any other part of this thread. I am just trying to get facts.

No need to even visit school to observe anything. You can simply read how some parents in in this thread itself.

Stay away from Tilden.

Then you haven't seen all the previous postings. It's a lot. Way more than 5.

Is the gist of it that Tilden is bad because 7th graders have Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, give out sweatshirts to attendees, which makes non attendees feel left out when attendees wear their sweatshirts?

Wow. 16 pages of complete and utter nonsense.

I've posted a few times here, as the parent of a girl at Tilden, and honestly while the gross vibe of this thread is pretty indicative of the helicoptering you see among parents there, we haven't had an issue at all. Maybe because we're more chill and just choose not to engage and that approach trickles down to our kids. We don't participate in a lot of the community events because we don't really feel part of the community as a whole, but DD has her friend group, and most of those families are more like us and we all get along well. I have been very happy with the staff at Tilden and DD really likes her school. There are several clubs that DD likes and has found a positive social circle that way. Maybe she just flies under the radar of the mean kids/parents.

DCUM is a toxic cesspool, but it's our toxic cesspool!
