Europeans already pay twice as much as us at the pump. Why shouldn't we feel some pain too? Are we so special? If an increase in gas prices is part of the process of achieving eventual energy independence from Russia, that is in our long-term national security interest, so I am okay with it.

Think of it as a long term investment on each American to move away from importing our energy..and hopefully moving fully towards eclectic.

Gas going up a few bucks is the least of our problems when you look at what's happening in Ukraine.

We were energy independent under Trump. Biden changed that in less than a year. Who canceled the Keystone Pipeline? Not Trump for sure....

We can't be responsible for the Germans and their foolish decision to become energy dependent on Russia but we can take care of ourselves, and the previous administration did make the US energy dependent. Biden is the one who threw that away.

It's not the inability of most people to rush out and buy electric cars tomorrow, the high gas prices affect all transportation including food. Look for your grocery bill to soar, and that's even for electric car owners.

Most people live effectively by paycheck to paycheck. A rapid rise in the cost of gas is a financial problem for working Americans, even those who don't own cars and proudly walk everywhere. You pay for it at the stores, you pay for it in the cost of goods and services.

Rising gas prices is a near guarantee that inflation will continue to soar throughout the year.

Perhaps Biden will correct his foolish mistake to cancel the keystone pipeline and try to bring the US back to energy independence. But I somehow doubt it.

Why do you keep repeating this lie? It's way past the point where it can be excused as an honest mistake.

The US is energy independent right now. There was a brief period of time, during the Trump administration, when the combination of a Saudi price war and the pandemic changed things by bankrupting independent producers but we've recovered since then under the Biden administration.

We are currently energy independent. The keystone pipeline wasnt cancelled. It's operational right now. An additional bypass to export Canadian oil is what was cancelled.

It was Trump who made the US dependent on Russian oil when he canceled Venezuela contracts and applied sanctions in 2019. The Trump admin immediately turned around and replaced it with RUSSIAN oil rather than looking elsewhere. That needs to be fixed.
