Exactly. |
There is nothing stopping those families from getting vaccinated. They can walk in to Arlington Mill or Walter Reed without an appointment evenings and weekends. They can go to CVS or Giant. This is not a matter of expense or convenience. This is not March 2021 when a bunch of privileged white people with fast computers and stable internet were snapping up all the appointment times. The reasons people are choosing not to get vaccinated are cultural and nuanced - but it is literally a choice. |
Not for the kids. |
The Yorktown/WL basketball game. Also big outbreaks on the Wakefield and WL basketball teams. Probably Yorktown’s too |
Yorktown had only four reported cases (not all of which were athletes) in the past seven days, so no reason to believe they’ve had an outbreak. |
The game was held at YHS. The outbreak is the W-L athletes at that game. |
Plus symptoms or positive results wouldn’t have shown up until after break started. So the dashboard results may not be fully accurate in this instance (if ever). But go ahead and keep you head in the sand. |
Not sure you folks are paying attention. Even the CDC acknowledges that the vaccine doesn't prevent the spread e.g., you can both get infected and spread to others. And spare me the hair splitting about unvaccinated spreading more than the vaccinated. Fauci even acknowledges that the viral load is the same in both vaccinated and unvaccinated. After all the goal post shifting, the only argument left is that that the vaccinated won't get as sick as the unvaccinated. And that is less of a variable for kids. So, with all this and given that Omicron is the equivalent of a cold, and not to mention that prior lockdowns (and masking) didn't work, attendance and quarantine policies should be updated accordingly. Alas, the power control minions will likely continue with the same, failed approaches. |
Do we know the likelihood of a vaxxed masked asymptomatic 5-11 year old spreading COVID to another masked vaxxed asymptomatic person and that person getting serious consequences or spreading to someone who gets serious consequences? Is such likelihood greater than likelihood of a serious injury while in a moving car? |
Nope. It’s not just the athletes. It’s the spectators too. More than a dozen kids. |
Where are you getting this, because it’s not consistent with the dashboard data? |
Anyone with a kid in YHS or WL can name a ton of kids who have tested positive since break started. Do you really think the dashboard data has been updated since break started when all of APS has been on break? Do you really think anyone is filling out the daily screener or calling the school nurses to report (the ones who are not at schools because schools are closed for break)? Just because it’s not on the dashboard doesn’t mean the spread isn’t real. |
Who cares if a bunch of kids got COVID? If they’re asymptotic they shouldn’t have been tested and should have continued playing. |
The NFL is not seeing any spread by asymptomatic players https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32930584/data-shows-asymptomatic-individuals-not-spreading-covid-19-nfl-chief-medical-officer-says |
Because they can bring it home and pass it on to people who are at risk. I can't believe how selfish some of you people are. |
