What the president said, in a sense, is disgraceful. It’s not a question of who that young man looked like. Any young American of any ethnic background should be safe, period. We should all be horrified no matter what the ethnic background.

Is the president suggesting that if it had been a white who had been shot, that would be OK because it didn’t look like him. That’s just nonsense dividing this country up. It is a tragedy this young man was shot. It would have been a tragedy if he had been Puerto Rican or Cuban or if he had been white or if he had been Asian American of if he’d been a Native American. At some point, we ought to talk about being Americans. When things go wrong to an American, it is sad for all Americans. Trying to turn it into a racial issue is fundamentally wrong. I really find it appalling.

If the President were a redhead and he said that about a redheaded kid, would anyone think the President thought it was okay to kill a dark-haired kid? As usual, GOPers try to divide us by accusing Dems of divisiveness. What a hypocrite!

I dislike Newt but he's right on this. A young man was shot for what looks like no good reason. There's no evidence it was a racially motivated crime. Obama is the one pandering.

If you see no evidence that race had anything to do with this, your head is in the sand. they are going to go through the record of his police calls from his watch and find that every one of them was a suspicious minority. Then there is the tape of his call, which some are going to say has him making a slur against blacks. And since this was a kid walking to his own home alone from a store, it's going to be hard to come up with any reason why he should follow a kid walking to his own home unless something about the kid's looks says he doesn't belong. Well, we have age, height, weight, a common hooded sweatshirt, and race.

I've heard of the crime of driving while black, but this is the first I've heard of the 'disgraceful' act of being sentimental while black.

There is no proof that Zimmerman made a slur against blacks when he shot Martin and there is no proof that he targeted minorities during his watch duties.
You are speculating.

You are also speculating when you say that Zimmerman is a racist. There is simply no proof of that.
On the contrary, his neighbors, colleges and friends say that he was not known to be racist.

The shooter is Hispanic with black family members. I wasn't aware there was a huge Hispanic / black race war. Hopefully the stupid liberals trying to stoke a Hispanic / black race skirmish will drive Hispanics to the GOP . This was a tragedy caused by an overzealous untrained and immature self appointed neighborhood law enforcement vigilante. Turning it into a Hispanic / black race war is perverse.

I think you do not understand the term speculation. You may disagree about what was said on the tape, but it is not mere speculation.

Second, I did not call him a racist. I think he was engaging in racial profiling. He doesn't have to be some guy spouting crazy talk about black people all day long. You seem to be willing to speculate quite nicely when it comes to my post.

When i saw this in the news i thought to myself, here comes Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and allllll the left wing media (which is almost all the media coverage) - a black kid got shot by a non-black adult male. And was not charged. The remaining FACTS, whatever they are, are wholly irrelevant. Let's bring on the race war dream team. With all this circus going on, I hope for Zimmerman's sake that he is guilty as hell.

Funny how people who call Newt a racist are just allowing themselves to be brainwashed by the mainstream media. I don't believe everything the mainstream media, or any so-called "reporter" (they usually aren't reporting, just opining) wants me to believe. I can think for myself. Please America, THINK. Calling Newt a racist means your brain is being distracted from the truth of what is really going on everyday in Washington. Do you have health insurance for instance? If you don't, soon you will pay a hefty tax penalty every year - possibly into the thousands. Did you know that? Did you know your grandmother might be denied coverage for colon cancer treatment if she's considered too old? Did you know your taxes might go up 10% - regardless of how middle class you might be? Does it bother you that we are in a recession and the President is spending millions on a plethora of luxury vacays right now while millions of americans are unemployed and at the Capitol Food Bank? How about the Christian schools being bombed in Sudan? The Christian homes being burned in Eqypt? The Arab world in crisis now? HELLO! Are you listening or are you too busy watching Rachel Maddow on NBC calling Newt a racist that you have no freaking clue what the hell is going on in America or the whole world right now?
