| We're going to an 8 pm showing at big multiplex that has showings every pretty much every half hour. I've already bought and printed the tickets but I'd like to get a decent seat. (Going to the movies is a rare treat for us.) I'm trying to figure out what time to have the sitter come. What time do you think we need to get there? Thanks! |
| Going to the theatre is a rare treat for everyone. Plan accordingly. |
Huh?? |
|
I went last night. Showtime was 7:30 and we got there 15 minutes prior. It was 85% full and we were lucky enough to get the first row behind the front seats. (At my theater, there are 3 very front rows then a space then all the other rows.)
I'd say have the sitter come an hour or hour and a half ahead and be there 30-45 minutes before movie starts. Movie was great. Have a good time! |

| We went ot the 7:10 show at the Uptowne. Got there an hour early and found 5 seats together in the second to last row. 10 pm show had almost no line. |
| Why don't you just wait until this fad fades? Why is there the need to see it as soon as it comes out? |
|
I went at 12:45 this afternoon. We still had to wait in line for 45 minutes. Nearly every showing was sold out.
It was a good movie and followed the book. It was a very enjoyable date afternoon. |
| 30min before should serve you well. |
| Point is, going to the theatre is a rare treat for everyone. Leave time, be early and don't be expected to be treated like a snowflake, and you will be fine. |
|
This is a simple thread. No need for any attitudes.
|
But I like being a snowflake.

I went Friday at lunchtime and there was hardly anyone in the theater.
I was at Tysons for the Lorax with my kids tonight and there were people in line at 5PM for a 5:50PM showing...I would get there early if you are going during the weekend at a popular theater. |
Good god lady, the op wants help quantifying the "plenty" part. WTF is your problem?? |
| So OP how was it? How early did you get there? |
