My husband raped me

I feel so sad, hurt, and scared. I don't know what to do.

Please call the National Sexual Assault Hotline - 1.800.656.HOPE

There are trained professionals that will be able to talk through your feelings and options. There is also an online hotline that appears to be more like an online chat, so that is perfect if you aren't ready to verbalize your feelings.

Best to you.

You need to get yourself to a safe place where you won't be attacked again while you figure out how to take care of yourself and get the help you need. Can you leave?

You also need to call the police and report him. Most states no longer have laws that "permit" a man to rape his wife (google your state to confirm). What he did is a crime.

Why would she call this before calling the police?

Because reporting someone you love to law enforcement for a violent crime is a terrifying proposition, particularly when you are in shock over this having happened. Of course She should take every step to protect herself, including getting the police involved but seeking out other support from professionals who Can help you navigate this emotional minefield is vitally important. The police dont solve everything, in fact in a case like this I can easily see this victim met with disbelief and ridicule if it's not handled properly and the help PP directs her to can help navigate that Scary process.

I think the advice here is right and honestly, the thread should be closed now. Otherwise it encourages hoaxes and abusive posts.

Please do OP. You can call the DC Rape Crisis Center 202-333-RAPE (7273). In almost every call they deal with rape, they understand what you have experienced and your fear. Talk to them.
