I saw that post, too. Different priorities for different people.

I shave my legs and armpits every morning, 365 days a year. I find I have less skin irritation that way, and it is less obvious if I miss a spot. Makes my shower a bit longer, but I plan for that. And DH appreciates that I'm not a prickly pear.

FWIW, I have a child, two dogs and a WOH full time.

I cook from scratch every night and do a load of laundry every day. And I'm hairy as the day is long.

Like she said, priorities.

Wow! You deserve a medal.

I don't get it either. You don't want to wear makeup- I get it. It takes time, not everybody likes it, whatever. Shaving just seems like basic hygiene though. To me it's like saying "So what I don't ever brush my teeth, I vacuum every single day."

I've been waxing my armpits and finally (after 7-8 months) the hair is getting lighter. I want to do it for my legs but of course would need to start in the winter months.

I have jumped into skirts this week in this weather! I can't imagine wearing pants all spring/summer just b/c I didn't want to shave...

Shaving is 100% cosmetic. And a very American practice. I wear long sleeves and pants in the winter, who cares if I'm hairy underneath?

How is shaving hygienic?

It just feels like I'm not clean if I'm not shaven. I would definitely feel like I was sweatier/smelled worse if I had armpits full of hair.

I wear skirts and don't shave. Seems like a completely unnecessary PITA to me.

And not shaving is nothing like not brushing your teeth! Does your husband brush his teeth? Does he shave his armpits?

How often did you have your armpits done? I have my legs waxed once a month and the hair is sparse in spots, but not lighter all over.

Since I only go once a month, I wear skirts about 2 weeks, sometimes less, and then pants for 2 weeks. I'm hesitant to shave because I feel like I'd be starting all over again. Know what I mean?

I wax them myself - every 2-3 weeks I think. The hair used to be black and thick and now it is very light and much thinner.

I think if you shave you will be back to square one. I'm planning to try to do my legs starting next fall, but last time I had my legs waxed (at a day spa) it was so excruciating to me I never did it again!

Pits, yes. Legs... how is that basic hygiene? It's purely cosmetic. In the winter I hardly shave my legs unless I have a date and am potentially getting some. In spring and summer, yes, when I'm showing my legs, because, as I said, it's cosmetic.

Completely agree. I'll shave in the spring/summer because I wear skirts, but in the winter if it's between extra 10 minutes of sleep and shaving my legs, sleep wins most days. Armpits daily, of course.

Congrats, OP! But why do you care what I do? We all have different priorities. I'd bet anything I accomplish plenty of things in a day that you don't think are important. We can still be friends .
