Fire in upper NW?

No where does it say this was random.

He has a record but the vast majority are traffic violations and most are from 2006-2008. Obviously he is scum of the earth but nothing about his record makes me go, "wow, obviously."

All red herrings...random or basically random crime

Do you guys really think he did this alone?

Why does anyone feel he needed to be familiar with their schedule? He invaded their home and the events unfolded as people were home or people showed up. He probably knew nothing about that family accept they were rich because they had a big house and a nice car.

+1. Some of you sound gleeful about this. They don't have him yet and could be others. Possibly related to family's time in the Caribbean ?

Would explain why he didn't use a gun: convicted felon.

I see nothing that says this was random.

I think it's been assumed because the WaPo article didn't give any link to the family along with his name. But who knows. It does seem a random place to be unless he had other business in the area. So either he worked around there at one point, or he woke up one day, decided to rob some people, and figured that neighborhood was a good bet.

Thought the police had said it was not random and that the criminals had knowledge of the family's daily lives....the vacuum thing is not unlike the aggressive magazine sellers that come around periodically... Did he work in construction? Maybe not with that record....would not be surprised if bloodhound makes a reappearance.

He was only one involved. There were others and it will be linked back to the business. This isn't a random thug involved. He was the dumb thug the other guys got to do it with him.

I was removing them as you were typing this

If I looked at the right court case data, there was only one criminal case for the suspect (but I don't know what it was for). Does anyone else see more than that?

There's a few more, they are all petty theft under $500 and other misdemeanors. Not too interesting.

The listing I saw was for 39 separate cases. Most were traffic violations. Others were, as stated above, petty theft. A few assaults and domestic violence. Some lying to police officers. Nothing to indicate a person capable of such a brutal crime.

Maybe he had a record in DC and/or VA as well?

i didnt find anything in dc/arl/alex but that is as far as ive looked and i only did it by name
