| Just curious, those of you who live in the DC area, how much is your monthly grocery budget. Our budget (for two adults) is $400, although we usually spend $275-$300. We have two nights a month that we go out to eat ($20 or less, for both of us) |
| We eat quality food (no processed foods, certain items organic and local meats) our budget reflects that. Family of 4, if we are VERY careful, we can keep it at 600/mo, but that is absolutly no eating out-NONE and it also includes NO alcohol. Normally we spent around 1,000/mo. |
Most people on here have multiple kids. Your budget will change radically if have kids. So, your question is pointless. |
| We spend $260/week on groceries, plus we do pizza and Chinese in the weekends. We are a family of 4, and DH and I go out at least 3 nights a month a d probably spend between $60-100 each time we go out. |
Your answer is pointless, don't be rude! |
| Two adults and two kids: budget is $200/week for groceries. With ordering in, usually ends up closer to $1000/month. Ugh. We need to budget better. |

Two adults, one infant on formula.
Budget is $80 a week for regular groceries. I coupon and shop sales and make all my baby food. $150 more a month for Costco for paper towels, eggs, veggies, diapers and formula. So about $500 a month total. |
| Probably about $150/week for groceries, plus anothe $100 eating out. So around $1000 a month. Two adults and two elementary school kids. |
| Two adults, two kids (one of whom is a toddler and eats too little!) We spend about $1000 month on groceries. And another $800 or so on eating out. I think the grocery bill is high because I tend to indulge on fresh produce - maybe 5 boxes of berries each week, and lots of other fruits/veggies even when they're a little expensive - plus convenience items (a bag of fresh pizza dough rather than flour and yeast), organics and "healthy" but overpriced stuff like greek yogurt and imported cereals. |
| Two adults and toddler. 130 per week for food only. Tight but doable. |
I agree, why ask here? Most parents have expenses-in addition to-normal food budget-related to kids-diapers, formula, snacks, etc. that a two adult family wouldn't. We are a family of five and we spend about $1,000 a month-no processed food, we eat as clean as possible. We may go out once a week as a family otherwise everyone packs lunches/snacks on a daily basis. |
|
$1000 a month, but that includes groceries like paper goods, toiletries and cleaning products.
We almost never eat dinner out and get lunch <$20 per week occasionally. We also keep kosher, which makes the cost of our meat and cheese considerably higher and we often host dinner/lunches for friends and family (8-12 people per week). |

Family of four, including a teen and preteen boy. Spend about $600 a month on groceries, including for school lunches. DH and I rarely bring lunch, so I need to include lunch out. We don't get takeout or go out to dinner more than maybe once a month. Taking all that into consideration, we spend about $1200 to $1300 on food per month.
This does not include our wine habit
|
| My budget for one adult and one child is $700/month. That includes a few bottles of wine and some sundries (t.p., plastic wrap, soap, detergent), mostly organics and whole foods. |
| 2 adults 1 21month old. We spend about $2000/ month. Costco, Whole Foods, Trader Joes. We eat out at least 3-4 times a week for dinner. Husband and I go out to lunch every day. |
