Gay, why is it not considered a mental illness, what would darwin think of gays

Anonymous
If being gay is not a mental illness and if you believe in evolution, wouldn't being gay be a means to eliminate that type of condition by naturall selection.

Natural selection should have eliminated idiots, but alas, somehow you folk survive.

Do you also support the everyone is gay argument?

I am not going to reply to the mental illness thing, suffice to say it has not been listed in the DSM IV for decades

Darwin would consider it an anomaly. There are lots of quirks that are not passed genetically, but continue to pop up.

Evolution does not take "moral" points into consideration.

While I do not much like that PP equated homosexuality with idiocy, I DO agree with her that OP is a grade-A moron, and probably shouldn't be allowed to breed, even though she is likely capable.

I have never heard that argument. I am curious what atheist , liberal think and what science thinks. We know the religious adjournment against it but what is the opposite non religous opinion that supports gays.

I am gay. I don't think everyone is gay. I do think sexual attraction exists on a continuum, but in my experience attraction is only one piece of the puzzle. I am not only attracted to members of my sex but I also want to pursue relationships with them. I could have sex with someone of the opposite sex but do not feel that I would want to share my life intimately with them. That's my continuum. Yours could be different.

I also do not believe that everyone is gay. But I also do not think that everyone is racist. I think it is spawned between the camps (of both straight and gay people) on the bisexuality does or does not exist argument.

I believe this.

One might hypothesize that there is an increasing incidence of homosexual sexual orientation in the human population triggered by global overpopulation.

No because sexual orientation is not genetic, Dumbass.

How do you explain families with more than one child who is gay? I know of two.

I also think it runs in families. I know of a gay father who came out about 10 years after his son did. And another with two siblings who are gay (sister and brother).
