I'm looking for recs for TV shows that don't jump from scene to scene and splice together lots of rapid movement (which is supposed to be awful for attention span). I'm posting some of my DS' favorites below but looking for new recommendations. Vehicle or construction-related shows a plus! I noticed, for instance, that Bob the Builder is way too fast paced. Actions are not completed, they jump from thing to thing, it's constant action. What we watch now:
Thomas the Train Fireman Sam Wheels on the Bus Sesame Street |
|
Little Bear
Caillou |
|
Also, Reading Rainbow shows (don't know if you can get them now).

|
Little Bill
Little Bear |
| Sid the Science Kid |
|
Oswald (if it's still on)
Clifford Backyardigans Martha Speaks |
|
Older Sesame Street, the new ones (last 8 years or so when it is more segmented don't count)
Thomas Readnig Rainbow Zoom Little Bear |
| Oh, and Mr. Rogers, Captain Kangaroo |
|
fraggle rock (box set)
|
|
Nothing from Nick Jr. (no backyardigans)
Kipper the dog |
| We watch Scholastic story dvds. |
| Peep and the big wide world |
|
Wonder Pets? (got a strangely rapturous review in the recent NYer, have to say I've never been a fan but it's slow paced)
My 3yo loves: Bubble Guppies; Peep; Max and Ruby; Dora and Diego; and the occasional Kai Lan |
| I can't believe someone answered this question with the Backyardigans!! |
Why? You may not like it, but it meets the OP's requirements - it doesn't jump around from scene to scene. My DS doesn't like any "crazy" TV shows like Sesame Street, but he does like Backyardigans. Oh - he does like Mr. Rogers too. |
