Agree with you. DCU is not a serious organization and they definitely aren't serious about your kid. DCU is about one thing...making money. As stated here before, they don't believe the academy is a money maker for them. It is just the cost of doing business in the MLS. That means that all decisions are through this lens. The decision to make parents pay for the school makes sense if you look at it through DCUs lens.which is how can we reduce costs at every step of the way. Same with cutting the u14 team. All about reducing the overall costs. This is why the academy will never be good and why the kids that are in the academy are getting a poor experience and even less development.

I thought DCU started with U14 ... when did they cut the U14 team?

They cut u14 after they selected the kids and all the local teams were set. So now a lot of those kids are going back to their club that already planned their team based on not have those kids on the team.

Yes this. Next season there will be no u14. They recruited the kids, locked them in and then told the parents they weren't going to have a team. Ridiculous.

DCU will always be a second rate organization including the academy. It starts at the top. Poor leadership and lack of vision plague the entire organization.

If you're at DCU, it is only a matter of time before you realize the above if you haven't already if you want to be in DCU, seriously think again about your options

Or looking to other MLS academies and what they have to offer for your son. You could also stay at a local club. It all depends on what your goals are as a player. Now, DCU is 10k to attend which is a barrier for a lot of parents and a nod to the soccer establishment in our country that is always catering to rich and well off parents. With DCU basically being pay to play, there are lots of other options in that category. Especially considering DCU isnt far superior than local clubs in terms of output.

Spending time responding is even more questionable. No one is being forced to go anywhere. But since DCU is the only MLS club in the DMV, people have a right to know that the facade it is trying to keep up is a total lie. You've finally understood that and it kills you. It's ok.

And now at 10k per year DCU will be even worse than it is today. It will only land kids that can afford it and that means they will inevitably be soft and not gritty enough to compete at the highest levels. Just like Bethesda. DCU now that you have to pay for it, is just a really.bad option. It was a bad option when it was free. But PAYING for DCU is flat out.stupid.
