https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/27/us/alex-pretti-protesters-minneapolis-invs

CNN is free. Sounds like was filming at a different location and got tackled.

From the article:

"The earlier incident started when he stopped his car after observing ICE agents chasing what he described as a family on foot, and began shouting and blowing his whistle, according to a source who asked not to be named out of fear of retribution.

Pretti later told the source that five agents tackled him and one leaned on his back – an encounter that left him with a broken rib. The agents quickly released him at the scene."

If I were walking or driving and saw a family on foot being chased by ICE, I'd like to think that I'd also stop my car, get out, blow a whistle if I had one, film the interaction if I was able to, and make lots of noise. Why? Because it's important that citizens bear witness to these acts. It's important that the people being chased know that someone witnessed the act and can act as an eyewitness. It's important that the ICE agents know that chasing a family is not the right way to do their job. I personally wouldn't tease the officers or use expletives as some public witnesses do (not saying Pretti did), but I would certainly bear witness.

Alex is a hero. I did not realize he had prior encounter with police and went to protest with broken rib. What makes all of us staying at home and not protesting?

The interview with his colleagues somewhat disturbing. And his father's speech admitting that he warned him not to confront LEO. Why would the parent be warning their kid who is going to the peaceful protest? My children engaged into numerous protests and it never crossed my mind to warn them about not confronting LEO, even thought they are just high schoolers.

I'm guessing they're white.

Alex Pretti was also white.

Yes I think that’s why people are taking this killing more seriously. Unfortunately this country often shrugs its shoulders at black men getting killed by cops and sides with Law Enforcement.

More seriiously than the murder of Good? I don't think so.

Well aren't you special. Your kids probably live in and around the DMV or NYC where for the most part the LEO are used to protestors and unlike ICE are professional. NYC and DC went through the entire BLM, NO Kings, Women's March, IMF, Pro-Choice protests with millions of protesters for and against and not one person was murdered. Oh, and the NYPD and MPD officers were constantly confronted by protesters.

Minnesota is more used to protestors than DC, DMV and NYC all together.

It is not the Minnesota police that are killing the protesters. It's the federal government. And I was responding to the poster that gave us the brilliant insight that she does not have to tell her children not to confront police while protesting. Protesters confront professional LEO all the time without being murdered. ICE agents are just unhinged, unqualified, uncouth, and thuggish.

Lies. There were more ICE arrests in Texas than Minnesota, and no single riot, even in liberal Austin area. Same with Virginia. Even in strong blue area with a new governor who does not support ICE, no single massive protest and no ICE interference. Even democrats are divided on this issue.

I can show you the polls but I’m busy. I’m not lying though.

No one wants this.

No one wants pedophiles amd rapists rounded up?

This is the delusional left.

We do, that’s why most of the country is fighting the deployment of these Presidential Pedophile Protection Units around the country. Unqualified and unvetted scumbags are murdering people in the street and doing god knows what to the people they are kidnapping. Sexual abuse by the “agents” seems to be pretty rampant in these detention centers. ICE has done nothing but bring crime and shame to Minneapolis.

Most of the country aka Minnesota? Also, if you think these people are unqualified, there are other ways to address it, through the legal system.

DP. Most of the country may not be actively fighting ICE exactly like in MN (yet), but "most of the country" does not approve of ICE tactics. Trump is sensitive to polls. While he craves attention at all times, this is not the type of attention that he wants right now. It's not a good look. He's nuts, but he's not an extreme ideologue like Stephen Miller in terms of the immigration issue.

While general support for deporting violent criminals remains high, specific tactics and ICE's overall performance are now viewed unfavorably by a majority of Americans.

*June 2025: NPR/PBS News/Marist Poll
54% of U.S. adults believe ICE actions have "gone too far".

*July 2025: Quinnipiac University Poll
57% of voters disapprove of how ICE is enforcing immigration laws.

*October 2025: CBS News/YouGov Poll
53% of Americans describe ICE operations as "too tough".

*January 8–13, 2026: Wall Street Journal Poll
54% say deploying ICE to U.S. cities has "gone too far".

*January 9–12, 2026: YouGov/Economist Poll
46% support abolishing ICE, up from 27% in mid-2025.

*January 12–17, 2026: New York Times/Siena College Poll
61% of voters say ICE tactics have "gone too far".
63% disapprove of how ICE is handling its job.

*January 13, 2026: Quinnipiac University Poll
53% believe the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis was not justified.

*January 14, 2026: YouGov Poll
53% of Americans believe the agent involved in the Renee Good shooting should face criminal charges.

*January 26, 2026: Reuters/Ipsos Poll
58% say ICE agents have gone "too far" in their crackdown.
58% of respondents disapprove of the President's overall handling of immigration.

Alex Pretti doesn't matter in general. But it was an interesting fact. As well that he was an lgbtq.

Polls does not matter. People in Austin are not protesting even though ICE arrested and deported twice more people than they did from Minnesota. Why are those 53-58% not on the streets fighting like ALex did?

You’d like to think so. He mattered a lot, as you’re seeing, and seething, about.

Maybe you feel you don’t matter and that’s why you’re doing this. I’m sorry no one loved you enough.

Of course no one loved me in a manner as Alex was loved. But no need to be sorry about. But I am glad that a guy in pink tutu matters a lot to you.

You people won’t stop at anything to justify murder, will you? There’s never an excuse for murder. Never. And this was absolutely murder.

Democrats are McCain republicans at this point. I wasn’t expecting that we were going to take the second amendment issue from republicans. Trump really has flipped politics upside down.

A group of federal agents murdered a US citizen in cold blood. None of those agents actions have ANYTHING to do with your screed.

DP. Human lives in general matter to many (most?) people. Alex didn't need to die. Loss of someone's life at the hands of (allegedly) trained law enforcement officers SHOULD matter to people, in my opinion, otherwise we would be a country who has lost our humanity.

I don't care what someone looks like or what someone wears. Somebody who stopped to try to help a seemingly injured and suffering person is dead. If that doesn't matter to you, I do not know what to say.

Republicans are making so many mistakes that it should be easy for Democrats to build a coherent 2028 platform. Right? Please let that be true.
