It is my understanding that all three of the possible crimes (tax evasion, violation of federal election campaign contributions, and violation of New York state election laws) were given in the jury instructions and the trial judge ruled that the jurors did not need to be unanimous as to which of three charged crimes elevated the misdemeanors to felonies. Seems like a critical flaw in a legal system which requires a unanimous jury for a criminal conviction.

This also violates the 6th Amendment to the US Constitution as defendant was unaware of with which crime he was actually charged.

Under what authority does a local district attorney charge one with a federal offense ?

You can read the law here: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/PEN/175.10

It doesn't specify that the other crime must be a state crime. It doesn't specify that he has to be convicted or even charged for the crime - there are various reasons this might happen (they decide not to prosecute, statute of limitations expires, etc.)

Trump is very much aware of the crime he was actually charged with: Falsifying business records.

Which, even if he did that, would be a misdemeanor. And, a misdemeanor in which the statute of limitations had expired.

Why do you want someone as president who is so utterly dishonest? If he cheats in one area he’s going to cheat in another. Guaranteed.

Will you love the outcome when this is overturned? Because it will be.........

Under her system, Trump is allowed an appeal. If the appeal fails will you accept that? Or will you only accept outcomes that you like?

It may be overturned. It may not be. A convicted felon has a right to appeal, so we'll see how this lands in the coming years.

I am 100% certain that it will be overturned. The trial was THAT bad.
So, yes, I accept the outcome.

Trump's having his pre-sentencing interview with his probation officer today. Following this, Trump's team is going to submit its sentencing recommendation on Thursday. Wonder what he's going to recommend for himself because he can't really say "nothing".

Same. I felt exactly the same. And it feels like many, many other people in my life felt the same - women especially, interestingly.

I feel the same as you and I'm a man. However, I won't truly love the outcome until the jumpsuit is orange too.

The only thing you can be 100% certain of is death. So tell us, if the verdicts is not overturned on appeal will you accept that outcome? It’s a simple yes or no.

Overturned on what basis? "I don't like the verdict" or "it wasn't a crime" aren't winning arguments.

If they make Trump wear an orange jumpsuit, I predict that will boost his polling by at least 5%. Everyone treated badly by our corrupt judicial system knows what he is going through.
