| I laugh at myself over this but when I speak people get confused looks on their faces. I even have a friend for years now, atleast 10 years now, but we just do not "click". I can be sharing a story or talking about something that we are doing and it is like she is lost or not following. I believe that I have narrowed it down to the way that I word things. |
| Is it regional OP? |
| Yes! |
| I agree. I have NO idea what people are saying here, and it is fine with me. Seriously. |
| OP. do you think it could be that people take themselves too seriously? |
| Is English a 2nd language for you and maybe there's some miscommunication? |
| If no one gets you here, consider it a compliment! |
| I thought this was a line from Seinfeld..."you're damn right it's me!" |
| You write very clearly so I kind of doubt it is you. I have some of the same issues at work. I often feel like I am speaking a different language when dealing with a few people there. It drives me nuts! |
I don't understand what you're getting at... ?
|
| Yes. It's because the thoughts running through my head are very different than other peoples'. They are almost wholly preoccupied with logistics and don't think big picture very often. |
Aren't you worried you are missing important things? My DH doesn't hear well, and to top it off, has a hard time following a fast conversation. He's missing so much. I'd hate to be that clueless. |
NP here. Yes, it's me. DW constantly reminds me of the fact that I tend to think very quickly. And my mind is often going several times faster than words can come out. Sometimes I don't go from A to B to C to D and so on. My mind does all that and what comes out of my mouth is A, C, F, K, M, N, O, R, X, Z. My good friends (mostly my college friends) and now DW can often make the mental leaps to follow me, but sometimes cannot. And then they have to slow me down and make me fill in the blanks. I work at it, I really do, but it does get worse when I'm tired and with 5 mo twins, I'm tired a lot more these day.

This happens to me too!! |
| PP here. Not clueless. If my employees don't like it they can certainly go elsewhere. But they know better. |
