Your favorite Eat This-Not That substitutions?

There is a magazine that does the Eat This-Not That, I saw a segment on the Today show this morning. One was to choose baked Tostitos and salsa instead of Lay's Natural Chips with French onion dip.

I'm a big fan of breakfast sandwiches- so I'll get the Dunkin D's ham-egg-English muffin instead of any of the other choices. (That was suggested in the Eat This Not That book 1)

I use plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It's thick like sour cream and very sour. I put in on baked potatoes an tacos.

Salsa on baked potatoes instead of sour cream, etc.

I use plain no fat greek yogurt instead of mayo in everything. I prefer the flavor and healthier!

Quinoa instead of rice.

Four oreos taken apart and re-assembled to make two doublestuff oreos (with for extra wafers) instead of two doublestuffs. Does that count?

-shirotaki noodles instead of pasta
-VitaTops instead of cookies/granola bars
-splenda instead of sugar
-microwave popcorn instead of chips or other couch-snacks
-pb2 instead of peanut butter (although sometimes still eat real peanut butter)
-canned pumpkin in recipes instead of oil

I made this switch about two years ago. IMO, it is the biggest "bang for your buck" substitution. Preparation is exactly the same, the uses are exactly the same. The nutritional benefit is huge. One caveat though, is that quinoa is not particularly low calorie, so if that is your goal, it isn't going to make that big a difference. But if the goal is to spend your calories on the most nutritious things, quinoa is great.

What is pb2? I looked at their website and it seems to be a powder -- do you miix it with something to make peanut butter?

Spaghetti squash instead of spaghetti. Really helps with cutting down on starchy carbs.

I second the spaghetti squash for spaghetti substitution.

Also, paleo pancakes (mashed banana, egg, and almond butter) with applesauce instead of pancakes and syrup.
