I drive around in a beat-up old used car, so I don't think I qualify as a LL, but I'll give it a try.

Limousine liberals are wealthy people who hold political views that benefit the less fortunate among us. It is usually used with a tone of voice indicating that there is something wring with the fact that they have not adopted the self-serving politics of their class.

As to political correctness, all sorts of phrases in common use throughout our history have betrayed prejudices of the users, or even society as a whole. In an effort to avoid perpetrating the prejudices, people (including run-of-the-mill liberals like me) have tried to avoid terms considered demeaning. The term "politically correct" is used to lampoon examples where this effort has gone overboard. It is often extended to the entire effort, and even used to justify the use of offensive language.

So let me get this right. If you are rich, you cannot be questioned, because that would be class warfare, UNLESS you actually care about poor people. And so then you are a traitor to the wealthy?

I think that is meant in irony, although I am not astute enough to figure out which side you are aiming at. In case you were seriously asking my view, I'd say you have pretty much described the GOP line. If that was your intent, I'm with you, brother (or sister).

Moreover, the simple fact of being wealthy means I should consider only how political policies benefit me personally?

I won't even comment on the "political correctness" thing. That's simply a dog whistle for "why not call a spade a spade?"

I just had this conversation with someone last night. She intimated that liberals don't support the American dream or being successful/ rich. WTF since when? All rich people should be republican? How is that not setting up a class system... Where rich must be republican or stupid and working class, middle class and poor people are democratic or liberal based on socioeconomic position alone.

I like how people say limousine liberals must send their kids to public school to prove they don't secretly loathe poor black kids.

You know the conservative are guilty of political correctness, too.

So Huntsman learned when he said he believed in reality rather then doctrine.

As soon as you explain why you keep posting threads telling people to defend against attacks that you haven't supported or even defined. This isn't your first.

Limousine liberals are successful and wealthy people with compassion for the less fortunate. I'm not sure what you mean about "political correctness" -- are you referring to things like singing America the Beautiful during the 7th Inning Stretch, "freedom fries," and reflective deference to all things Israel?
Anonymous
^^^ sorry, REFLEXIVE deference.

16:16 Are you implying that successful and wealthy conservatives have not compassion for the less fortunate? The stereo-types (going both ways) are so tiresome.

Signed,
Compassionate Conservative

They were asked to explain the meaning of a stereotype. It doesn't make much sense to criticize them for defining it.
