Where could we spend $2500 on a vacation outside the country (alternative to DE beaches)

Anonymous
That includes airfare for 2 adults, and 1 or 2 children (one child will be just under so COULD sit on a lap) and accommodations. That does not include food or spending money. My husband is balking at spending 2500 for another year at Sea Colony but I've never traveled outside the U.S. so I don't know where to start looking. What would cost about this much and be fun for a family with 2 small children?

Although it's not out of the country, with kids that age, what about Hilton Head?

I appreciate why some people like Hilton Head, but with young kids I find you need stuff to do outside of the beach. They don't last long on the beach. The appeal of Sea Colony is that there is a pool, ice cream shop, etc. right there. No walking to the beach. You can stroll to the boardwalk at night. I'm trying to replicate that experience but add a little more culture.

Are you joking? Just about anywhere.

British virgin islands.

Are YOU joking 15:02? I'm thinking with airfare for 4 people, you're already at 2000.

Isla Mujeres off the coast of Cancun. Airfare for three will be about $1200, then rent a house or condo (tons there). Beautiful beaches; a fun town center; very relaxed pace; nice mix of Mexican, American and other international tourists.

Quebec city. But I would consider a mountain vacation. We love Vermont in July/August. Weather is great.

Dominican Republic. You can get some great deals there.

How many nights are we talking about?

You mentioned DE beaches, so I can't tell if you require warm weather or not...

BUT I just plugged in 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids) into Orbitz for packages in Montreal in first week of April (Spring Break) and came out to $700 to $800 per for flight, hotel, car. That's slightly more than your budget, obviously, but maybe you don't need a car?

Dominican Republic
Puerto Rico
Costa Rica (packages)
Cancun

The airfare is the biggest variable so it depends on the season.

I would rather be in Bethany Beach than Cancun! I believe you can get some decent deals to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
