Fire in upper NW?

They probably did not realize even if someone has hundreds of thousands of $s, people never have physical possession of that amount of money in cash and it's a big hassle to convert a ledger entry into cash. Most people will do a wire transfer for all the situations brought up by pp rather than handing someone cash.

The point was that raising 40k in CASH should have raised a red flag with the bank, accountant, assistant, etc.

Great thought. Hopefully they did.

How would it help if they did?

The police could obtain the pizza company's phone records and find the number called in the order.

"We will stay overnight and wait for the banks to open in the morning so we can get cash"
"What if we get hungry?"
"We'll just order pizza"
This crime just happened. Probably by the vacuum salesman that was casing the houses.

So you think it was the teenagers who broke in or the vacuum salesman? You pointed to two different potential suspects in one six line post.

Teenagers, vacuum salesman, random person on the street looking for a quick score. I just don't think this was a planned ahead personal attack on the family. I think it was a random home invasion that unfolded into an overnight hostage situation. For all we know they used knives because they didn't even bring their own weapons. They could have used the homeowners knives and gasoline. Ordering pizza is very impulsive.

Have you read any of the reports?? This was a planned attack by someone who knew their schedules, and even disarmed the alarms.

How do they know that the schedules were known ahead of time. They just break in during the day when perhaps the alarms are off. Perhaps someone just opened the door for them and they just barged in. They can disable them once in the house. They tied up whoever was in the house and then did the same to SS when he walked in. That is what happened in that murder 20 years ago in Potomac. The painter killed 5 people one by one as they came home at different times.

...Once again if you read the reports you would know that the alarms were ALWAYS on and it was unusual for them to be off.

No inside source here, but there does seem to be more news and facts coming out today. Is that related to the fact that they are zeroing in?

Oh I really hope this is true. I'm still in complete shock that someone would do this to wonderful people that I am honored to have known. I don't really know why I've kept up with this forum, as it has made grieving significantly worse, but I guess I'm just trying to find answers prematurely. I pray that justice is found for this family and their poor daughters.

Per Fox5 news message from SS left on NG phone was left at midnight. No wonder she didn't check her messages until Thursday morning.

New: Housekeeper says money was to be used for opening of a martial arts center in Chantilly. She says cash deliveries were common.

oops sorry i meant to quote the pp who posted the wapo article that said "Gutierrez said she knew nothing about the money that was dropped off May 14 and said that she had never seen the assistant or anyone else drop off cash to the Savopoulos home in the 20 years she had worked there."

Right. Your source is a tweet seven hours earlier. The Washington Post article from 8:17 pm reports it very differently.

Right. So did the housekeeper tell 2 different stories or sloppy reporting

Could be the former but it's almost certainly the latter regardless. Tweeting is not really conducive to detailed, thoughtful journalism. WaPo and other sources clarify stories all the time. This one is likely particularly tough to nail down and they just post what they know at any given moment, which obviously may change.

fox 5 just said (again) live on 10pm news that housekeeper NG said cash deliveries were common. guess they were either truly told that by the housekeeper or the sloppy reporting continues.

Can anyone source an article that mentions the pizza order? I missed it and can't find that in wapo.

Wouldn't it need to be several arrests? (not intending to be pedantic, just impatient)

A suspect has been named, according to Washington Post but I can't find any more information
