I don't think it is off to a very good start. They announced so early that the weather never came. They are having everyone come in at the same time (which I thought they were trying to avoid). I wonder what metro will be like at 10..or will most people go in a bit earlier to avoid the chaos. I guess the private sector is happy to have lots of parking spaces. |
I loved it today. Maybe the federal government should open two hours late every day? Private sector job, but my company follows OPM operating decisions. I decided to leave at my usual time this morning since the roads seemed fine. And they were. It took me 30 minutes to get to NW DC from Fairfax. |
It is not just a 2 hour delay. Federal workers do not typically work 9-5. My office is all in between 6 and 7..so this is like a 1/2 day. Not good from the tax payers perspective. |
I am working remotely, but my DH who works for the Fed left for work at 9:30 to avoid the 10 am jam up. I'm sure others did the same. |
It was a breeze coming down 16th Street at around 8:45. |
I WAH home for Feds--as does 1/2 my office so we started on time. |
Are you not allowed to work late or make up the work later in the week? |
LOLZZZ, WAH + government job = sleeping |
You are allowed to work late or make up the work later or both. The only time you can't is if there is a budget issue and you've been put on unpaid leave/furlough. I don't know many federal employees who only work 40 hours. The late start mostly means that early meetings got rescheduled. Everything that was due this week is still due. |
The black ice came. Boy, if they don't dela the start on an icy day they are responsible for horrible traffic and if they do they are lazy workers wasting taxpayer money. Can't win. |
Whatever, idiot. We are on a production quota--much like billable hours. They can see what work products are turned in on a daily basis. My agency is not a "lifer" agency and does fire--even gs-14/15s. Keep up with the antiquated stereotypes. They mask your jealousy. |
? That is a very archaic view of remote work. We are no longer in the dark ages of remote access and I know of several people allowed to work remotely - govt and private. They all work really hard as they can roll out of bed and start working; no delay to commute into the office. Anyway, if that is your opinion of remote workers you are part of the reason it is so hard to get more buy in. |
I actually laughed out loud! |
Maybe the "hard workers" in the governement are WAH + government job = Watching Judge Judy on couch with blackberry |
Not bad for $155k/ year. |
