Repeat chemical pregnancies

If you had multiple chemical pregnancies, what was your diagnosis and eventual outcome?

I'm 38 and have one child.

I've had a bunch and my first clinical m/c was at 38. That went to 10 weeks. Current diagnosis is "unexplained." after 3 years of losing babies after natural pg we're moving on to IVF with PGD in the hopes that the PGD will either solve a bad egg problem or fail and then we can move on. We considered treatment for uterine issues but I'm not personally comfortable with the science.

You didn't ask, but my advice as someone who is now 42 and regrets wasting all those years ttc on our own, I'd say don't waste time and go for the mosT aggressive treatment you can afford whose science you go for , if that makes sense. Sorry for typos. Cell phone.

I had 2 in the journey to have #2. I was 38 when I started. One of the chemicals was on an IUI and one was on a FET. Successful on 2nd Fresh IVF at age 40. I regret wasting so much time on IUI and wish I went to IVF sooner.

I would say most of my miscarriages (from age 28-31 I had 8) were chemical type miscarriages. Betas didn't double and we only saw a small gestational sac, but sometimes didn't make it that far.

My treatment plan was G-CSF and intralipids and I saw Dr. Braverman in NY. My diagnosis was immune related in nature. I am now 13 weeks on this treatment.

What exactly is your diagnosis?

For us the diagnosis was a balanced translocation of two chromosomes. It was found in a karyotype blood test.

Same here. I had more chemical pregnancies than I care to count. Never saw a heartbeat. I was finally diagnosed with elevated NK cells and anti-phospholipid antibodies. Treated with IVIG, Dexamethasone and Lovenox. We now have a 9-week old DD.

First, I would like to say congratulations!

I am supposed to go on dexamethasone and lovenox when I am ready to ttc. I'm a bit reluctant to go on dexamethasone because it is a pregnancy category c, how did you feel about that?
Did you find it difficult to administer the lovenox shots? I heard it burns?

I had more than I could count, and one miscarriage at 12 weeks. I was put on baby aspirin and b vitamins and within 6 months had one more chemical and then finally a successful pg. 3yo DS will be an only, though, one reason being I don't want to go thru all of that again.

I was just about to go to an RE when the pregnancy happened. I was 36. Best of luck to you whatever route you decide on after this.

Did you ever find out what was causing your losses?

Thanks so much!

My doctor's office prescribes a lot of Dexamethasone for fertility purposes and has done so for years. They monitor their pregnancy outcomes closely, so I felt pretty comfortable about taking it. I used it pre-conception through 12 weeks, at which point I was told to discontinue. My biggest problem with the Dex was weight gain, but I'd still take it again in a heartbeat. DD was born happy and healthy.

The Lovenox does burn a little going in but it goes away quickly. It also gave me a lot of bruises on my stomach. On the plus side, the needles are tiny and you can barely feel the injection. It's sooo much easier than those God-awful PIO shots that you have to take intra-muscularly!

Who did you see that was able to diagnose your issues and then prescribe the correct treatment?

I worked with the Beer Center (in CA) in coordination with Dr. Abbasi locally.

Thank you for answering my questions.
I have another one if you don't mind; did you take the lovenox shots until you delivered? Did you administer it yourself?
And, I also heard if you are going to have an epidural you have to wean off of it a few weeks before due date and switch to heparin, did you do this?

TIA!
